Pete's Lodge was a god-send. We were a group of 10, a mix of local Alaskans and city boys from Los Angeles. During the day we traveled all over the Kenai Peninsula, and the Sterling location was central to everywhere we needed to travel. It could not have been a more perfect spot: secluded, quiet, tidy, spacious, plenty of parking.
Pete is an incredibly gracious host, always asking if there was anything we needed or he could get for us. He is also very easy to communicate with, no matter the situation. (I'm sorry to say we weren't a particualrly gentle group, and ripped the felt on the pool table. Pete was understanding through the whole process.)
The house itself is perfect. The first thing we noticed when we opened the door was how clean everything was... and after living out of an RV with 10 people for a week, we heard Hallelujah coming across the threshold. Also, hot water. At no point were any of us lacking for hot water. Or a bathroom. Or a bed for that matter. Everyone slept in a bed, and had easy access to a bathroom, with wonderfully hot water.
The fully equipped kitchen is huge, and the table is big enough to match. We sat around that table every night for family style dinners, laughing and talking. For a lot of us, it was the first time we had gotten to do that in a while. There's nothing quite like a good dinner around a big table with friends.
This is an odd thing to add, but there are outlets everywhere, especially in the basement. Between the 10 of us, we had a lot to charge, and there was never a moment anyone had to wait to charge a single thing.
Pete and his place were everything we could have asked for, and everything we didn't know we needed. Do yourself a favor, and stay here!
