The Cubby was built in 2015.
It's in a courtyard of a 1880s house, on the edge of the City.
The Cubby is tiny. It has a private balcony, accessed via a short staircase.
It's above a bathroom/laundry.
There's a megadelux Black Wolf airbed; bedlinen; lots of pillows; bedside lamp; chairs; heater; milk crate storage; plenty of power points; a room light, and balcony and stair lights.
Our house is a minute's walk from the North Melbourne Railway Station, one stop from Southern Cross and two stops from Flinders Street Station. So there's great airport, Skybus, Smartbus, Vline and metro train access; as well as easy access to the CBD with all its attractions, Queen Victoria Market, The University of Melbourne, Parkville health precinct, Errol St cafes and bars, Docklands (including the Stadium), Lygon St, the State Library, Melbourne Zoo and much, much more!
You're welcome to use the open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room. (See photos with Airbnb's West Melbourne Terrace: The Study.)
There's a washing machine (but no dryer) in the downstairs bathroom; and a bath in the upstairs one (see photos). There's a table and chairs in the garden; and a basketball ring on the street wall.

If we're around we're happy to chat, but also respect guests' privacy.
You may meet other Airbnb guests during your stay; and/or family and friends. However, The Cubby is separate to the house, so you can run away to a quiet space! It's also accessible without entering the house.
The household's wireless wifi may drop out inside The Cubby (because the building is clad in metal). Phone reception is fine though.
Please confirm your preferred check in time at least 24 h before arrival. We try to be flexible, and if The Cubby is unavailable before 2 pm, you may leave bags and start to make yourself at home in the shared areas.
Self check in (via the lockbox) is only used when we're unable to meet guests. (Our preference is meeting.)
Smoking is ok outside.
No stilettos inside the house (and preferably not in The Cubby either).

I love my city and the countryside and now have more time to enjoy both.
I spend time with my family and friends, go camping, swimming, kayaking, walking and travelling. I also enjoy cultural activities, and live with devotees of Australian Rules Football (this is Melbourne after all!). I've lived in New Delhi and London; and travelled in Europe and Asia.
I'm an environmentalist (and some other ists), but I hope I'm also tolerant and respectful of others' values.
We're new to Airbnb hosting and would welcome your suggestions for improvements!
