This sweet spot is a short walk to the famous Rio Del Mar beach and is lived in by a down to earth, local, paraplegic girl who keeps her house clean and beautiful!
This room is a wonderful and affordable alternative to paying for a room at the Rio Sands hotel, which is only a few blocks away from this house but ranges from around $150 to $300, not including price hikes during local events and holidays. This way, you can take the extra money you're saving and use it on surfing lessons, stand up paddle boarding, the Boardwalk, wherever!
The room is separated by the kitchen from my room, so there are no shared walls which gives you more privacy. The room is:
1 Bdrm with 1 Queen Bed / Shared Bathroom
+ Large closet solely for your personal use included with hangers
+ Large desk/workspace with desk chair
+ In room mini fridge
+ Large TV with access to Netflix and a DVD player
+ Alarm clock
+ Coffee maker right outside your bedroom door with complimentary coffee and tea
+ Separately bottled shampoo, conditioner and sunscreen included in room for your use
+ Disposable paper plates, utensils, cups and napkins included in room for your use
+ Full use of kitchen is permitted as long as the dishes used are washed and put to dry in the drying rack and the messes are cleaned up. The food in the refrigerator in the kitchen is not for guest use, that is why there's a mini fridge provided in your room. However, the coffee and tea displayed next to your room are complimentary and you're free to use the coffee maker/teapot.
+ Full use of bathroom is permitted and white bath towels will be provided for your use in your room. I ask that you do not use any of the toiletries that are in the bathroom as they belong to me, with the exception of the toiletries provided for you in your room.
+ Outdoor shower available for guest use.
At the start of each stay fresh bed sheets, blankets and towels are provided and care is taken to sweep, mop and disinfect your bedroom and the shared bathroom. I like to live in a clean environment and believe that it's important to provide the same kind of cleanliness for my guests that I would like to see for myself while I'm traveling.
There will be a lock box on the front door that holds a key to the front door as well as a key to your own private room. The day before your stay, we will be in contact and you'll receive the code to the lock box.
There is a spot in the front of the house for you to park. Besides that parking spot, there is also close side street parking that is available if you will be needing parking for more than one car.
There is a washer and dryer in the back of the house with laundry detergent available for your use. There is also an outdoor shower that's located on the same side of the house that you can use if you like as well (comes in handy when you're rinsing off the sand from the beach before coming inside).
The front yard is completely open for your use as well. You're welcome to use the BBQ, the lawn furniture, and the yard is great for wind free sunbathing if you don't feel up for walking to the beach but would still like to get a nice tan!
The mugs next to the coffee maker are for your use, as long as you wash the mug(s) and put them in the drying rack. The ground coffee is in the black jar next to the coffee maker.
There will be disposable paper plates, cold cups, utensils and napkins in your room for your use. Any other kitchen items may be used as long as they are washed, put on the drying rack and the messes are cleaned up.
If there are items you need that are not already provided complimentary for you, there is a market within walking distance for you to purchase whatever else you may need. Flats Bistro, Pixie Deli and Cafe Rio are also within walking distance and are breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants.

I am a 27 year old female who was born and raised in Santa Cruz. I've never moved away because of how beautiful, healthy and overall amazing the location and community is here. I've lived in this house for over four years and don't plan on moving anytime soon because I love this perfect little beach pad! I decided to get started with Airbnb because I need help with my physical therapy costs. So I'm happy to welcome anyone on any of my available days/nights because it'll help me move forward with my progress!
My life is filled with physical therapy, chiropractor/massage appointments and doctor visits because two years ago I was hit by a drunk driver. I'm now paralyzed and get around in a wheelchair, but that didn't make me have to move spots. I still enjoy life to the fullest, though my "job" is working every day to get my body to learn how to walk again. I also still go to the beach, but instead of walking to it from my house like I used to, I now go with someone who's strong enough to lift me and carry me onto the sand!
Now that I'm able to live independently without live-in help, I'm looking forward to letting others take advantage of my sweet beach spot that's 5 blocks away from the water. I've lived here my entire life and am happy to share info on good local spots to eat, activities, etc. I just ask that you leave the house the way you found it, clean and beautiful ❤️
