A peaceful, self contained flat in a tranquil location, just 3 mins from the vibrant beach of Portobello and 25 mins by city bus to the centre of Edinburgh. This is an ideal flat for a single person or couple who want to unwind after visiting the Edinburgh sights. Portobello itself has much to offer. The promenade is perfect for an evening stroll or morning walk – you can even have a swim. If a dip in the sea is not for you, the nearby Victorian Portobello swim baths are a heated alternative.
The apartment is in a quiet terrace, in a Scottish stair which houses four apartments. We are up one small flight of stairs. Do please be respectful of our neighbours at all times and if you are coming back late, do keep the noise to a minimum.
There is free on street parking with some restrictions.
Our small but perfectly formed kitchen has all the equipment you need for making a three course meal, or simply tea and toast. You'll find fresh supplies of tea/coffee, milk, juice, bread, jams and marmalade, cereals, cooking oil, salt and pepper etc.
If eating out is your thing, local restaurants include the Malverosa (Spanish), Bonuful (Indian), Lauras' Chinese, Anna Thai, the St Andrews Chippy (Italian/Fish&Chips), Foresters Guild (British) and The Espy (British).
Local cafes include Cafe Miro, Butternut squash, The Beach House and Skylark
Some recommended Bars are Dalriada, on the beach front, which often has live music, please check with pub for days. The Espy, on the beach front and Foresters Guild are also worth a visit.
Local Supermarkets include Aldi, Sainsbury's Local, Scotmid.
Parking in Edinburgh city centre is almost impossible and very expensive, consequently we recommend getting to and fro by bus. The 15 & 26 busses run every five/ten minutes from Portobello High Street, which is just five minutes walk from the apartment. You'll need the correct change: £1.60 for a single and for £4 for an all day ticket. We also recommend you download the Lothian Buses app, it is free and gives you up to the minute timetable information (URL HIDDEN)
A taxi should cost in the region of £8 from the apartment into the city centre.
A taxi to and from Edinburgh airport will cost in the region of £25.
The historic port of Leith is only a mile away and well worth a visit.
