My flat is located just to the north of Oxford City Centre, only 5 minutes' walk from the very centre of Oxford and on the edge of "Jericho", the trendy, happening part of Oxford with lots of great bars and restaurants. There is a bathroom, a kitchen and a sitting room all of which you are welcome to use.
The room itself is a clean, spacious double room (4.2m x 3.4m). In addition to the double bed it has a desk, a mirrored wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a bookcase.
NB: This listing is for a room in my home; it is neither especially modern nor especially luxurious, but it is clean, comfortable and safe. I am simply trying to offer visitors to Oxford some decent quality, good value, hassle-free accommodation in a fantastic location. If you are an older traveller or expecting a hotel experience then please consider another listing or better still book a hotel otherwise both you and I will be disappointed.
For everybody else...
This is a great lodging if you need or want to be based in the centre of Oxford, and let's face it: if you are visiting Oxford you don't really want to be unnecessarily wasting your precious time constantly travelling in and out of the city when you can just as easily have everything on your doorstep. The flat itself is quite large - it is actually a maisonette on the top two floors of a 4-storey building, and all of the rooms are of good proportion. Being on the top floor of the building naturally makes the bedroom pretty secure, but it also has its own lock for your added peace of mind, and since it is located at the rear of the building this bedroom is shielded from the noise of the road traffic and is generally very quiet.
The bedroom itself is West-facing and so benefits from the afternoon sunlight. It is a spacious double and comes with a good-sized desk if you need to do some work or use your laptop, etc, with the wi-fi access point in the room below. The mirrored wardrobe and chest of drawers provide more than adequate storage/hanging space for clothes.
The flat has a bathroom with both a bath and a decent shower. The kitchen has all the basics which you are welcome to use (I would just ask that you clean up after yourself and wash up anything that you use) plus a washing machine for those guests staying for longer periods. A self-service light breakfast of bread/toast, cereal and fruit is available in the morning, whilst tea and coffee are available all day. If you need a bit more space there is a sitting room adjoining the kitchen, with a TV and two sofas which you are also welcome to use.
The flat is on the top two floors (second and third - or third and fourth for our American cousins) of the building and is accessed by a stairway. If you think you will struggle with your luggage, I am always happy to help you with it.

I was an undergraduate at Oxford and moved back to the city 10 years ago, so I know my way around Oxford fairly well and am always happy to share my knowledge and help with any questions that I might be able to answer.
Fresh bed linen and towels are provided and I can also provide European plug adapters and USB chargers for guests should they have need; if the weather is bad there are also a number of umbrellas that guests can use. In the morning a self-service light breakfast is available, but guests will need to provide any other food. In the bathroom shampoo and shower gel are available, but again guests will need to provide any other toiletries they may need.
Those guests staying longer are welcome to use the washing machine - please ask. Guests are also welcome to use the iron and ironing board for any clothes that are in need of some attention.
It is also important for you to know that I have a small dog; he is very friendly and very quiet and stays in my room most of the time (he certainly doesn't have the run of the flat), but it is important that guests are comfortable around dogs as there is a chance that you will encounter him at some point during your stay. I also employ a regular cleaner from one of the nearby colleges so the flat is generally pretty clean.
Check-in and check-out times can be fairly flexible if necessary, but I also have other commitments (for example, walking my dog in both the morning and the afternoon) so check-in and check-out need to be planned around these - please make arrangements with me in advance.
My flat is situated on a main road which naturally can be noisy on occasion. However, this bedroom is located at the rear of the property and this, combined with the height, shields it almost entirely from any noise such as the road traffic. Generally speaking, you can't even hear the bells from the 12th century St Giles' Church which is situated directly across the road from my flat.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR 4-5 SEPTEMBER 2017: St Giles' Fair is held very close to my flat at the beginning of September every year. It is particularly noisy, typically running from 11am until 11:30pm, and is then dismantled afterwards on the final day. In 2017 it will be held on Monday, 4 September and Tuesday, 5 September. Some noise from the Fair can be heard in the bedroom.
Finally, please note that with this being a city-centre flat the property has no parking for motor vehicles.
- No other guests without prior permission
- Be respectful and considerate of others in the flat (including not bringing smelly food, eg. kebabs, into the flat)
- Please lower the lavatory seat and lid after use, and during the winter months please keep doors closed and don't leave windows open in your room when you go out
- Clean up any mess made in the kitchen and wash up anything used
- Be comfortable around dogs
- Do not use appliances (including the washing machine) without asking
- Ensure the main front door is double-locked when going in or out
- Please tell me when you are leaving (do not just check yourself out)

Hi, I'm Alex. I fell in love with Oxford when I studied here as an undergraduate. After working in London I decided to return to my beloved Oxford and have been back living in the city for 10 years now. I have lived in my current flat for more than 5 years, and during that time I have had a number of lodgers share it with me so I am more than accustomed to having others stay in my home and am very laidback about it - but I still take the associated responsibilities seriously. I have decided that I would prefer the flexibility of short term lets rather than longer term lodgers, so hence I've decided to register with AirBnB.
Having lived in Oxford for nearly 14 years in total I know the city very well, and having been an undergraduate at the university I have a certain knowledge of it and an insight into it that other hosts might not. I am always more than happy to share what I know.
Please note: I do endeavour to reply to all message but I am usually pretty busy in the mornings, so if you contact me before midday don't be surprised if I'm unable to respond promptly.
