A modern farmhouse set in the woods of rural West Virginia. Everyone welcome!
This room, The Jefferson Room, named for President Thomas Jefferson and adorned with a lovely color print of his home Monticello, features a full size bed with firm mattress and memory foam topper, a secretary desk, and access to the second floor covered porch. Antique oak and walnut furniture is complimented with modern painted white pieces.
We’re the McNemars (pronounced mick|nee|mers)– a family of three living our dream of a peaceful life in rural West Virginia. Now don’t confuse peaceful with boring because life at our new old farmhouse is anything but that. We’re into over-the-top entertaining, live music which we host in our home, falconry, auto cross racing, bee-keeping, art collecting, and interior styling.
Our B&B and house show venue is also our home. We share it with a four year old, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, and a black cat.
This guest room is located on the second floor up a flight of stairs with 17 steps. It's a designated guest room. The bathroom with tub/shower combo and heated flooring is located across the hall, but is the designated private bathroom for your stay.
Also consider adding a formal five-course breakfast with our partnering inn to your stay. Located fifteen minutes north of McNemar House, A Governor's Inn is a beautifully restored historic home in the heart of downtown Buckhannon where innkeeper Charla Reger creates a true breakfast experience that reflects her family's Irish heritage. This breakfast experience at a Governor's Inn is only $20 per person, and we make the reservation for you, so it's easy peasy!
The first floor which includes a living area, dining area, kitchen, and covered back porch with two picnic tables are shared spaces for guests. The first floor library is also available as a shared space when it's not being rented out as a pop-up room.

We are in and out of the house; however, we welcome guests to strike up a conversation anytime they catch us in the shared spaces during their stay. We love meeting new people, learning about their lives, and sharing our passions and hobbies.
We are also a house show venue, meaning that we host live music in our home several times each month. During these shows, a stage is setup in the living area and seating is added to the living and dining area. While the dining area is always set back up as a dining space immediately following shows, there are times when the stage remains in the living room. In these instances two club chairs and the stage make up the living space instead of two club chairs and a sofa. See our gallery for photos of both setups.
Hi I'm Heather. I live in our newly constructed farmhouse with my husband, son, Greater Swiss Mountian Dog, black dumpster cat, and Red-Tailed Hawk.
We spent years planning our home, and my father and father-in-law spent two years building it. It's an incredibly special place to us, and we love to share it with others.
Our family stays very busy with work and hobbies. I'm a licensed falconer and my husband Bronson competes in auto cross racing with the Sports Car Club of America. We also share a love of entertaining and host several house shows in our home each year which feature some amazing musicians.
We'd love to share our place with you, so please feel free to reach out!
