Our place overlooks a wetland, and the Suikerbos mountain. It is close to great restaurants and 5 minutes walk away from beautiful mountain walks, trout fishing dams and mountain bike trails. Down the road is a local brewery where you can enjoy a cherry brew and a whisky bar that boasts one of the largest selection of whisky in the Southern Hemisphere. Dullstroom is the halfway mark to Kruger Park. Your room includes a a sauna, large bath, shower, walk-in cupboard and a private balcony.
Our house is a triple store, swedish style, timber frame house. The bottom level consists of two rooms, the second floor an open plan kitchen, dining room lounge and the top room the master bedroom. Each level opens out onto a balcony. Your booking includes top floor bedroom which is an open plan bedroom, and relaxation area containing a sauna, hot tub and shower. The hot tub is a jacuzzi but we have turned off the jacuzzi function due to the terrible droughts we had last year (the worst in a hundred years). You are very welcome to use the hot tub but please be sensitive to conserving water. The room opens out onto your own private balcony with the most spectacular view. The room does have a fireplace but please don't use it. Birds nested in the chimney in summer and it is temporarily out of order. We have provided a heater to keep you warm as it does get chilly in winter. You also have full access to the second floor which is open plan and has a kitchen (with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, gas stove, fridge/freezer, microwave and pantry); lounge opening onto second floor balcony (which has a built in barbecue and outdoor chairs and table); dining room and TV nook which also opens onto the balcony.
Your booking gives you access to the top floor which is your private space and the middle floor which you may be sharing with guests who have booked the bottom bedroom. If the booking is free you will have this floor to yourself as well.

Unfortunately we won't be in Dullstroom as we have recently moved to Johannesburg. You can, however contact Les Adams who has agreed to manage the house for us while we are away.
Your keys will have a gate remote control to open the gate, a front door key and a key to your bedroom. The gate does not close automatically, please close it on your way out.
The road from Belfast to Dullstroom has many potholes as does the road from Mashishing to Dullstroom. Please drive carefully as they are difficult to spot. Try and avoid driving these roads after dark if you can.
We have listed our house address as 369 Piet Retief street. It is actually 369 Ukhozi Drive. Piet Retief street is the old address. Unfortunately online maps still documents our street as Piet Retief which is why we give the old address. As you drive up to our street you will see it is signposted 'Ukhozi Drive' so don't get confused you are in the right street.
If you would like a cleaning service while you are here you can arrange it with Les Adams directly. It will cost an extra R190 per day.
- Quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am. This is a courtesy to our neighbours and to the town as a whole.
- Children are welcome but please note that there are stairs and high balconies.
- Smoking is allowed but only outdoors and on the balconies.
- You are welcome to invite people around and have fun but please be respectful of noise levels for our neighbours.

Don and I moved to Dullstroom on a whim and we love it. We both freelance. I'm involved in research, environmental learning and social change and Don is a computer programmer. I love my job which is about learning to bring about change in the world. I mostly work with environmental activists and researchers. We have an old cat who lives at the top of our house most of the time. We love traveling but we don't do much traveling at the moment as our old cat needs us in her twilight years. Don loves cooking and has a passion for orchids. We like living a simple, quiet life when we are not traveling or working and are lucky enough to have found such a beautiful home where we can simply be.
