Our house is a warm and authentic place, it is spacious because it is an assembly of three separate small village houses, integrated into one (around 100 square metres of space + a beautiful roof-terrace of around 30 square metres).
One of the main highlights of the house is it’s private and sunny terrace, which is perfect to sunbathe, relax, or watch the sunset on St Jean’s surrounding hills. The living room is cosy and has a fireplace. The bathroom has a shower and bath.
Our house is located in the centre of the village of St Jean de Barrou. It was built on the remains of the old fortress, which at the time, served as protection for the Cathars against the Roman-Catholic inquisition.
In front of the house there is a second terrace. The house has two romantic bedrooms with double beds, a children’s bedroom with a bunkbed (2 beds). A babybed, a baby-chair and two safety gates (for both stairways) are available on request. One of the bedrooms is above the kitchen (large open space, visible on the pictures) and has direct access to the main terrace. There is an electric ventilator. In the living room the sofa can be converted into a double bed. The kitchen has all necessary amenities: a microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and gas stove. The house has two toilets.
St Jean de Barrou is located amidst extensive vineyards, which produce the widely appreciated wines of Castelmaure, Fitou and Durban.
The nearest beach is around 25 mins away, and there is a secluded mountainriver and small lake where you can swim, which is about 10 mins away. Alternatively you can go for a walk in the mountains, or visit nearby Perpignan, Carcassonne or Narbonne. The wildlife safari park of Sigean is fun to visit with children. If you have more time you can plan a citytrip to Barcelona which is about 2,5 hours away.
Guests have access to all of the rooms.
