Kumo Bukkoji is a traditional Japanese Machiya style house with decades of history. The location of the house is convenient for traveling to most lively streets in Kyoto, Shijo Dori as well as the Kyoto Station. It is also very close to one of the most important scenes that were illustrated in the movie Detective Conan: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital, which is the Bukko-Ji Temple.
Kumo Bukkoji has certified by the Kyoto Prefecture as one of the rare traditional Machiya in Kyoto. It is a two stories wooden structure with renovation while keeping the historical features of the house.
One of the special characteristics of the house is that by the entrance of the house, there is a small garden with open ceiling, stands a small tree that reaches the second floor of the house.
The house is renovated with modern kitchen, modern bathroom, and toilet. There is a heater in the bathroom and a bathtub with the function of preserving the temperature of bathing water for your enjoyment of Japanese-styled bath. There is floor heating in the house that would keep the house warm even in the frigid winter.
In the modern kitchen, it has everything needed. Such as refrigerator, electric kettle, toaster, microwave… drying/washing machine is also equipped with the house, which brings you a pleasant experience in a traditional Machiya with modern facilities and convenience.
There is a well decorate an indoor garden corner in the living room of the house. With the Japanese garden layout, it is perfect to admire it with a nice cup of tea during a relaxed afternoon.
On to the second floor, there is another toilet room, convenient when multiple people are staying. There are two spacious Tatami bedrooms, and please fill free to open up the separation door for forming one big bedroom.
The designer of the house uses the space of the balcony on the second floor to build a traditional Japanese dry landscape garden. The dry landscape garden is one of the famous styles of Japanese garden layouts. The uneven rock pillars represent the mountain, and the sandstones represent streams of water flowing through the valleys. Dry landscape gardens in Japan is often used for meditation, please enjoy this view if you have time to spare.
With the morning sunlight shining through the checkered window and the delicate fragrance of the Tatami best represents the atmosphere of Kyoto.

There is no TV set in any of the houses that Kumo Mahciya Stay operates. It may be hard to adjust at first hand, but for that, we hope to provide our guests a chance to have pure mental relaxation and taking a break from the overwhelming information from the mass media in our daily life. Most importantly, we wish our guests could have the chance to enjoy the facilities in the house and spend quality time with family and friends. 1. For your stay to be convenient, please inform us your arrival time for at least 7 working days before your arrival. Also, please inform a day before about the schedule of your arrival in Kyoto, for that, our staff can have the chance to give you advice for your transportation to the house, as well as welcome you to the house and help you check-in and introduce you to the house and the usage of the facilities.
2. All the customers are required to register and sign a confirmation letter for check in before the stay. The confirmation letter for check-in is available on Airbnb website for checking in advance. 50000 Yen (3000 RMB) deposit would be required. During check-out, the staff member would inspect the original status of the house and return the deposit, if there is any damage, guest will be required to pay the full price of anything that is damaged.
3. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere in the house if the house can't be used due to smoking the guest would need to compensate one night's house rental fee.
4. If you are traveling with children or senior citizens, please pay extra attention during your stay, since the house is very historical and traditional. It is necessary to be careful when climbing and down the stairs as well as opening windows and doors since they are made out of historical wood and Japanese traditional paper.
