Troglodyte house / loft with a unique vue on la Vallée du Loir. 2 double bed, a single bed.
Very relaxing experience staying in this beautiful cave property . Perfect for our few days of relaxation. It was beautifully tranquil. Special thank you to Hosts Sabine and Sebastion fir looking after us so well. It was very well equipped. Given it was a Troglodyte dwelling it was unique and quirky in a very pleasant way. Its position on side of hill with spectacular views was wonderful. The village to Troo is peaceful and unique , full a artisans and Troglodyte dwellings. We have recommended property to friends already. We would love to stay again when in the Loire region. Regards , Joanne and Tony.
Our stay was great. The cave is an original place to stay in, with beautiful views of the valley outside in the garden and the welcome cool climate inside. There is a lot of space for a family, 2 double beds and a single. The place is very well equipped in the kitchen and sitting areas, including some food to keep us going when we arrived. We were shown around by Sabine's son, who was there to help us find the address when we first arrived. I would recommend this place - it's an unique place to stay, we had passers by taking pictures of the cave as we sat in the terrace!
We stayed for a week with our two children (aged 7 & 8). The property and setting is fabulous and very unusual. It’s private with an excellent terrace and great views over the vale, and living in a cave is quite exotic. Troo is a fascinating village with a long history, good for kids as they can explore on their own (there are few roads in the main village just footpaths) and we found plenty to do locally in Montoire, Lavardin and Vendôme (wild swimming* and kayaking in the river, plus churches and old fortifications etc). Most of the top sites of the Loire Valley are about an hour’s drive away and we had a great time canoeing under Chenonceux with Canoe Company and visiting the beautiful gardens of Villandry and Chateau Chaumont. It was wonderful to sit on the terrace and admire the view across the valley. The terraces have a perfect mix of sun and shade. Our host family were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The property is spacious, well equipped and relaxed. If you are looking for a top end luxury hotel, this is probably not the property for you but if you are looking for something quirky and highly memorable, we highly recommend it. For us it was perfect and we would have given it 6 stars if that was possible. *Local wild swimming locations in the Loire can be found in Daniel Start’s excellent book on Wild Swimming France, with Troo on the list.
What a great find. We stayed 2 nights but would happily have remained longer- the house is really comfortable, cool and has stunning views over the Loire. As a family of four there was plenty of space both inside and out. Sabine was really generous- we arrived late and after the shops had closed but Sabine was quick to offer delicious vegetables from her garden, bread and a large bottle of red wine to enjoy. We'd love to return one day and all have happy memories of the visit. It was great to look around her own house- an intricate network of large rooms linked by never ending passageways - a joy to have visited!
