This is a large and modern 2 room apartment of 50 m2 ( +10 m2 for loft) in a historical building from 1905 in the heart of Helsinki's oldest district. The ceiling height is nearly 3,5 m which makes the place feel particularly spacious and light. Despite the old age of the building, everything works as you would expect in modern times. For instance, double glazed windows, central heating, excellent water pressure and abundant hot water are standard features.
Suitable for couples, families with older children, business travellers and small groups of friends. Sleeping arrangement flexible for different configurations.
The entrance hall is very big for your luggage and hassle-free entrance. There's plenty of cupboards to store your belongings. large full scale mirror to finalise your look for a night out in Helsinki!
The kitchen is well equipped for eating and sufficient for everyday cooking. Most items (appliances and crockery) in the kitchen are BRAND NEW, stylish and specifically invested for Airbnb guests, so very fresh, clean and good looking - in my opinion :-). Many Finnish design items included in addition to high street crockery. Lovely morning sunshine in the kitchen.
Essentials provided (coffee, tea, sugar, musli & instant porridge, basic cooking condiments like oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and spices etc) .
Coffee machine, water kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher all exist for your use. Also included are a kitchen TV and wifi.
SLEEPING: up to 6 persons
The sleeping arrangement is all in one large open space as you can see in the pictures, but you get your privacy by having the loft separately. The main bed downstairs is 160 x200 while the loft currently has a 120 x 200 double bed and two single mattresses 80 x200, that can be put side by side to make 160x200.
The overall arrangement is flexible for different guest ( 2-3 couples, several singles or parents with older children). No infant amenities provided for the moment, but please enquire if interested. High quality bedding and freshly washed , beautiful linens included.
The loft is accessed via convenient spiral staircase and is about an extra 10 m2 and 140cm high which gives easy access to bed and plenty of space around. The black-out curtains ensure the room can be made completely dark for sleeping - despite the amazing Finnish midnight sun! And the street is super quiet and peaceful.
Large, light open space with 3,5 m high ceiling. Equipped with nice corner sofa, some extra chairs and small tables, TV, and music speakers. There's a 3.5 mm jack to connect the audio system to laptop or most common mobile phones, for you to enjoy your own music. Black-out curtains to ensure a good sleep.
The sofa could sleep one person for short stays. It is not a sofa bed, so not intended for long stays.
The bathroom is particularly large for this size apartment, and is equipped with all the essentials, a really good shower ( excellent hot water & water pressure) , shampoo, conditioner, soap etc, nice fresh towels, washing machine, iron & ironing board and a hair dryer.
The flat is located on the 2nd floor and there is no lift. The historical staircase is wide with easy access even with your luggage.
You will have the entire place during your stay, including all the facilities in the flat: Wifi, 2 TV's, all kitchen appliances (such as water kettle, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, hob, oven etc) and other home appliances (such as washing machine, hair dryer, iron, etc).
Please note, the wifi router is in the kitchen and I have just been told (by my 19th guest only!) that the wifi coverage is poor in the living room. (I will see if something can be done to strengthen it also in the living room already this summer, but in the autumn the whole building will get a new, stronger data cabling. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience. )
There's plenty of cupboard space with hangers and shelves for you to store your clothes and luggage.

The apartment will be professionally cleaned after each guest, but I would appreciate your collaboration to keep the place clean and keep cleaning fee reasonable. Please put dirty dishes in the dishwasher before leaving, bring the bins out to the space provided and leave the place generally tidy as you found it.

I am a native Finnish woman, passionate about travel & cultures and international spirit. I have lived and travelled in many countries but always held one foot back firmly in Finland. Currently I live between London and Finland, to pick the best of both worlds. One thing is for sure, nothing beats the Finnish summer and the lovely atmosphere in Helsinki and the archipelago! It may be short, and not always so hot, but it is genuinely magical (every year again) as the sun barely sets and the light nights give such incredible energy! - Which indeed is needed ahead of the long and dark winter! Come and experience it to yourself, as I am putting my place on AirBnB for the entire Finnish summer!
I have worked 25 years in multinational companies so I am a reliable professional and aim to take good care of my guests. I am currently on sabbatical and mostly in Finland this summer.
In addition to being fluent in Finnish, Swedish, French and English, I also speak some Spanish, German and even Japanese.
