A cosy old fisherman's cottage dating back to the 17th century, updated for modern holiday living. Less than 50m to the sea and the pub! Ideal for winter weekends with friends and dogs as well as family beach holidays in the summer.
Staithes is an old traditional fishing village steeped in history. Salmon cottage own history saw it as a bakery and a fish and chip shop before it was used residentially. The kitchen was the original servery for the chippy and when the house was renovated there were signs of the old shop on the walls and floor.
Salmon Cottage is unusual in Staithes as the rooms are all comparatively big and it has a garden.
Salmon Cottage is literally a stones throw to the Cod and Lobster pub by the sea, or the George further up the High Street.
Staithes also has a well renowned art gallery where many local artists both resident in the village and elsewhere exhibit their work.
Staithes is great for rock pooling, crabbing, finding fossils, walking (the Cleveland way goes through the village) and generally exploring the alleyways, yards and ginnels.
Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick bay (where paddle boarding and kayaking are available in the summer), Saltburn pier, a number of golf courses, and many other places of interest are easily accessible from Staithes.

I am available by phone or email for any issues, but you will be given access details and left to your own devices.
The cottage has steps, narrow staircase with corners. The floors and walls are uneven due to the age of the property. The garden is for exclusive use by Salmon Cottage, but it is not secure and dogs cannot be left in it. The heating is very efficient and the cottage gets very warm even in the winter. Coal & kindling are provided for your first fire, more fuel can be purchased locally.
- Dogs must be kept downstairs and sleep in the kitchen
- Please leave the cottage in a reasonably clean state to keep costs down for future guests
