First, Sulmona is an incredible find. It is the perfect example of a preserved walled city who's people, customs, and accommodations are authentic.
Melina's apartment is a great example of Sulmona's authentic Italian intimate experience. This is a two-story, mini apartment, well located near the central part of town. The city sites, especially the town center where everybody congregates, is walkable from the apartment. The beds are comfortable, there are more than enough towels, the water is always hot and abundant, there is lots of storage space, the place is very clean.
Milena provides snacks for breakfast. There is a refrigerator for storing locally bought produce from the Wednesday and Saturday farmers market five minutes away.
The bonus is that Melina is incredibly helpful and attentive. If needed, she'll help with suggestions for places to eat, and places to see. (definitely walk or bike to Pancentro). Her English is excellent. This is a great value for the location, and accommodations. The lack of Wi-Fi is truly a bonus. We had lunch at Gino's around the corner and used their Wi-Fi as needed.
We are planning to come back to Sulmona next year and of course this is our first option as to where to stay.
