25 years ago the old cottage on our family croft was completely renovated and given a new lease of life as 4-star self-catering accommodation.
Since then, we have welcomed folk from all over the world to the beautiful island of Seil, near Oban, on the west coast of Scotland.
We think there's something special about this part of the country. If you fancy coming to see it for yourself, our cosy, well-equipped cottage is the perfect place to stay.
Croft Cottage is comfortably furnished to a high standard with electric central heating throughout. Downstairs, the living room features an open fire with solid fuel included at no extra cost. It has Freeview TV, a DVD player, CD player and radio. The fully-fitted kitchen/dining area includes an electric cooker, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer. Cot and high chair are available on request.
The cottage has an entirely new upstairs bathroom and sleeps up to 4 people in double and twin bedrooms. Linen and towels are provided.
A small garden can be found to the front and side of the cottage with superb views overlooking Seil Sound. Ample private parking is located to the front of the building, and there is a handy drying area to the rear.
Due to our rural location there is limited mobile phone reception in the cottage. Similarly, there is no reliable Wi-Fi signal: a signal strong enough for checking e-mails can be got in the kitchen.
For those not sympathetic to the idea of a digital detox, there are a number of Vodfone Rural Open Sure Signal sites on Seil. These provide 3G coverage and are located at Tigh an Truish Inn, Easdale Medical Practice, Balvicar Stores, North Cuan Ferry Terminal and Seil Island Hall.
A QUICK NOTE ON TOPONYMY
The name Oban Seil refers to the township of Oban (Gaelic: 'ob' - a bay; 'an' dim. - a little bay) on Seil, so-called to distinguish it from Oban in mainland Argyll.
- Guests are responsible for the condition of the property and its entire contents during the period of let.
- Please report any damage/breakages before leaving; any damage to furnishings or crockery shall be paid for at cost.
- Please leave the cottage as you find it, i.e. clean, tidy and with all kitchen items washed correctly and in their original places.
- Remember that we are an agricultural unit, surrounded in turn by more agricultural land. For this reason, we respectfully ask guests to make themselves familiar with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
