Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside.
The listing includes:
-A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards
-Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm.
-Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on.
-A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows
-A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating.
-A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven.
-Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices.
Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Can I get to the house without a car?
A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable.
Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare).
Q: Is this house really off the grid?
A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi.
Q: How will I receive the key?
A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry.
Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests?
A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree!
Q: What's my total booking price?
A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this.
Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking?
A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask.
One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
Make yourself at home (you know: within reason). A touchpad smartlock allows for keyless entry and effortless check-in and coming-and-going. The Glass House also comes with access to outdoor furniture and a fire pit, as well as absolutely incredible views and total relaxation.

If you need anything at all—help finding something, questions about appliances, need help getting getting anything working, or simply looking for a good place to grab a bite—shoot me a text or give me a call!
The Glass House is off the grid, meaning guests should note a few things:
-Due to freezing pipes in the winter, from roughly Dec-March the house uses water tanks to provide H20 for showers, faucets, etc. Winter guests are advised to use water sparingly so they don't run out (in which case we can refill).
-The toilet is a Laveo dry-flush toilet. This is the same toilet Matt Damon used in The Martian. When you "flush", it basically deposits your business into a sanitary and completely odor-free vessel without using water. It's actually cleaner and smells less (as in: not at all) than a normal toilet This system features cartridges that are changed out between guests, and offer around 20 flushes per stay. This is typically adequate for two guests for two nights, but guests are advised to conserve flushes. In addition, I will be sending info on how to "swap" the cartridge if you run out and nobody is around to help. (I promise it's easy!) Guests will also need to dispose of this on their way out (again: I promise it's easy!)
-There's a chicken coop nearby so you're welcome to buy some of our farm-fresh eggs (make breakfast on the cooktop!). Just tell me your order in advance and they'll be waiting for you.
-The house requires some degree of self-reliance and understanding as it is in the back of a farm. The driveway to the house is not paved the entire way and may leave your car a bit muddy during some seasons. The parking area is also about 100 feet from the house along unpaved ground. I promise it is all worthwhile!
-The minimum stay is two nights except for single open nights between longer stays. Thank you for understanding.
- Please remove shoes inside the house
- To avoid overloading electrical system, do not run the A/C at same time as heavy appliances such as cooktop, microwave, hair dryer, kettle., Just turn the A/C off for a few minutes while using, and then back on.
- Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the space-age toilet, and how to dispose of the liner on your way out (info in email I will send prior)
- Please no smoking inside, or leaving cigarette butts outside. And please do not smoke right next to the open door, to keep it from getting inside.
- As the house is off-grid, it is important that you read and follow the posted instructions for using appliances and the toilet.
- Please use coasters or placemats when putting things on wood surfaces.
-As the total guest count must be registered with my insurance, all infants must be booked as "children" to avoid exceeding my insurance-mandated limit.
- Please do your best not to stain the linens/pillowcases with mascara or makeup.
- Please no unregistered visitors or pets.
