If you're looking for a great host with rapid response time to inquiries and questions, and a property with a great beach and ocean view out the back balcony, this is the place. The cost is right in line with the market, which is great.
The room is on the 7th floor of the Carolinian, offering a spectacular view. We stayed with 2 kids under 4, and 3 adults. The bedroom was a great size, the two beds were very spacious, and we had room for our pack and play and drawer space to put all of our clothes. Our nanny stayed on the pull-out couch in the living room and was very content. The only warning if you have someone sleeping in the living room, the curtains DO NOT close, so they will be up with the sun.
The kitchen and bathroom has basic towels / linens and appliances. Coffee maker could use an update, as the top is no longer connected to the base, but that's nothing that prevented us from having our morning coffee each day. Starbucks is also a short walk down the street a few blocks, which I enjoyed the trip anyway to help get my blood flowing.
Washer and dryer in room, so you can keep your clothes nice and clean, and don't have to pack as much as you don't necessarily need to pack a new set of clothes for every single day of your trip, unless you do that anyway.
All in all, a nice place to stay without spending too much $$, and my whole family was very pleased with the host, location, and room. We will look to stay here again next summer when we hopefully return to Myrtle Beach.
If your flight leaves Saturday morning, be prepared to pack and leave VERY early, as everyone else in the property also seems to be leaving at the same time. expect to wait 30 minutes for one of the three elevators to get your luggage down. We eventually pack-muled all of our bags down the stairwell. This is in no way a reflection on the host or room. Just a heads-up for your scheduling.
The beach front offers two chairs and an umbrella, pre set up, that can be rented from the life guards on duty. The cost is $40 per day, and they take them down at 4:30pm. We drove to the local Wal-Mart and bought our own umbrella for $20, and beach chairs for $11 each and used them for every day we were in town. We just gave them away to other travelers in the building on our way out to the airport. I highly recommend this method for shade and seating on the beach. Also you may want to pick up a $6 umbrella holder / stabilizer for digging in to the sand and holding your shade in place during the gusty breezes.
