Once a farmstead, this 18th Century Barn built by a Sea Captain now offers a Quaint and Cozy Respite from a busy world and a glimpse into the history of Coastal Maine. Surrounded by Ten Acres of undisturbed Maine Woods, a Salt Water River and Quiet Cove, this Snug Old Barn provides a Peaceful and Serene Home for Guests wanting to Relax and Unwind. Enjoy sitting on the Pier, watching the Tides and Lobster Boats at work, cooking Lobsters on an open fire, and Picnicking along the Shore.
The Barn not only offers a cozy, warm home to its guests but also gives them the opportunity to feel a part of the history of Coastal Maine. The Barn has been restored for comfort and convenience but there remain remnants of its 200 year history from the weathered wooden beams and wide-planked boards to the antique farm tools decorating its walls. A hand-made wooden ladder in the corner of the kitchen-sitting area allowed the farmer access to the second floor through a trap door. A second floor hay window used in the past to cast out hay for the farm animals today summons the night sounds and sea breezes off the coast of Maine.
The Barn sits on a quiet road facing the St. George's River, a salt water river which, after a few bends in the road, opens into Muscongus Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Across the road and along the shoreline above the pier and float is a picnic area for guests with a table, benches and chairs, a hammock and fire pit and use of the pier for swimming, boating, fishing, etc. This is a great place at the end of the day to watch the fog roll in, the boats, birds, wildlife, moon, stars, storms and fireflies. The back of the Barn faces ten acres of woods. After dark you may hear the calling of the loons or the howl of a lone coyote or glimpse the Aurora Borealis overhead.

I live in Texas most of the year but spend as much time as I can in Cushing between June and October. If I am not readily available in person, I am always available and easily reached by phone for any questions that need to be answered or problems corrected.
In the Barn is a list of my family and friends' favorite places to visit, restaurants, local markets, where to rent kayaks, find a beach, a lighthouse, pick blueberries or buy lobsters, etc.
Maximum number of guests is 6.
