If you're looking for unique, cozy, kitschy, and affordable, you've found it!
Seattle Safari is true glamping in the city. You'll experience the sound of the rain pattering the tent fly, a cool breeze on the front porch on a summer day, cuddling with a good book under the electric blanket, and warming your hands with a mug of fresh-brewed coffee while the heater cranks up on a cold morning.
It's romantic and idealistic. It's also affordable, practical, and right in the middle of the city.

Seattle Safari is a comfortably-furnished 12 x 14-foot canvas tent with a spacious covered porch. It is close to the back of the house, in our elevated back yard.
The powerful heater takes 10-15 minutes to heat the indoor space from 45 to over 70 degrees. Out back, there is an "outhouse" housing an off-grid toilet and a separate "shower room" with a hot-water sink and shower.
Our fully-fenced backyard is secured with combination locks on each gate and motion-detector lights.
Seattle Safari has electricity throughout the tent and running water to the shower room. The room heater and hot water heater are both propane-powered, with the propane tanks stored outside.
The bed has two thick comforters and an electric blanket, so you'll be cozy even with the heater off on a cold night. We provide an extra polar fleece blanket, and we recommend that you bring warm house slippers for your feet.

Unless we are out of town (we try to travel as much as possible, even with 2 young boys), we are available and willing to help whenever you need it. Even if we're not home, we're very responsive to phone calls, Airbnb messages, emails, and texts.
Seattle Safari has no kitchen. There is a mini-fridge and a drinking-water dispenser as well as an electric kettle and pour-over coffee maker for an excellent cup of morning joe.
We have kids and a small, friendly-but-sometimes-barky dog. There is a trampoline in the yard, and on nice days, it can get loud for short periods of time. We always respect our guests' privacy, but please know that the tent is part of a backyard that we use on nice days.
The sink and shower drain into a gravel pit under the tent, so we'll ask you to use the eco-friendly soap and toothpaste that we provide.
You'll need to be able to navigate 8-10 steps to access the Seattle Safari tent.
The toilet is an off-grid incinerating toilet that reduces all waste to ash. It is odor-free.

We're a couple of laid-back, former Peace Corps sweethearts. Now, we both teach for Seattle-area Community Colleges, spend time with our young son and our little dog at Greenlake, ride our bikes all over our beautiful city and beyond, and continue to travel whenever we can. We're happy to meet visitors and help out with recommendations of tourist attractions, restaurants, bike routes, etc.!
