Chalet Schopfli is the ground floor apartment of a two storey chalet in the peaceful village of Beatenberg, about 14 kms above Interlaken in the famous Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. It is situated on an individual plot with its own secluded, south-facing garden. Access is via a steepish path from the road, where there is parking for one car. Because it stands high above a quiet road any disturbance from traffic is minimal. Moreover, the land on the other side of the road drops steeply so there are no buildings to obstruct the magnificent view of the three major Bernese peaks; the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Also the town of Interlaken, the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the lake of Thun are clearly visible through the trees. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the the sun, solitude and pure mountain air.
The entire apartment is available with a garden at the front of the property. You have your own parking space on the road below. There is quite a steep path up to the chalet and you enter via your own front door.

The chalet is situated on the only road through Beatenberg, between the cable car to the summit of the Niederhorn (with its cycle trails and numerous footpaths as well as ski pistes in winter) and the village centre. There are several shops, post office, tourist office and banks, as well as an indoor swimming pool and tennis courts. At the east end are additional ski lifts, a huge variety of summer and winter walks and cross‑country ski trails. Interlaken, a popular tourist centre in summer or winter, is just 20 minutes by car or 30 minutes by the regular bus. A funicular railway leads down to the shores of Lake Thun where there are further walks and caves to explore, as well as a ferry to take you across the lake.
The whole area is particularly suited to walking and hiking, ranging from gentle easy strolls to high level mountain hiking, including a “via ferrata” at Murren. Because of the fantastic system of mountain railways in the Jungfrau Region, it is possible to walk at high altitude – without having to climb steep paths! Walks are denoted by coloured signs, according to difficulty and, because of the huge number of routes, it is possible to walk for hours without meeting anyone. If you don’t wish to venture too far there are several excellent walks from the chalet – down to the lake or up to the top of the Niederhorn, or simply around the village and surrounding coutryside. Wherever you go you will encounter a variety of natural habitats, beautiful views and breathtaking scenery.
