A cosy 2 bedroom family apartment in the heart of the old town on the banks of the river Lech. The uniqueness of the houses in our street, is their position between the old city wall and the river. It is the perfect base to experience the beautiful nature around the Castles as well as the Old town of Füssen, in particular if you like to do everything by foot or bike. The house offers an insight into how the people of Füssen have lived over the centuries. Once a Lederhosenshop now a family home.
We ourselves were charmed by the uniqueness of the house, and live on the 1st floor with our family.
On second floor, at the same level with our small city-wall-permaculture- garden, you will find the entrance to your apartment. Just in front of the entrance there is a terrace/platform covered by the house roof that invites to launge and linger, with view onto the garden.
Renovating the apartment we found ourselves leaving the traces of the past and playfully integrating them into the new look. There are 400 year old floorboards in the bedrooms up to tiles of the 50”s and a crazy mix of the past decades in the kitchen.
I was inspired by the German artist group the “Blaue Reiter”, who in turn were inspired by the beauty of the Alpine nature and native culture.
Coming in you will find yourself in a small entrance with enough space to store shoes and jackets. Just to your right is a good-sized bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower.
Opposite the bathroom is the cosy second bedroom, which reminds a bit of boat-cabin. It can be used as a single room with an 80x200cm bed or extending the bed to double size as a comfortable double room ideal for couples or 2 children.
At the centre of the apartment is the characterful patchwork kitchen where you will find everything you need to prepare all your meals, including: coffee machine, kettle, stove, oven and also a dishwasher.
Leading from the kitchen is the sunny and colourful living/dining room. The self-built sofa bed is the perfect spot to enjoy the view overlooking the picturesque cobblestone lane and past the rooftops the mountains beyond.
At last but not at least, there is a beautiful airy bedroom with a king-size (160*200) double-bed. There is a big antic Bavarian wardrobe where you can keep your clothes and belongings. Bedding and pillows are provided.
You can use the main entrance at the Spitalgasse to enter the house. Two stairways through the house will lead you to your seperate entrance. The terrace is for guests, whereas the garden is our private space. But your are wellcome (at your own risk) to use the external steep staircaise to reach the exit through the city-wall into the old town of Füssen.
Bees: We have two bee-hives in our garden. Usually the bees find their way over the roof-top, but it might happen that you find a bee or two on your terrace. So please take notice of that, if you have a bee-allergy or fright of bees. Thank you!
Washing: At the moment there is no extra washing mashine in your apartment, but i can wash your loundry for you (extra charge of 3€)
Already included in the listing price is a tourism tax (€2.20 per person, per night) which entitles you to a 'Füssen Card' with which you can obtain free bus travel in and around the area as well as selected free parking and discounts to some of the local attractions. At your arrival we will ask you to fill out a form and hand you the Füssen Card but in order to activate it you must take it to the Tourism Office. Tourist Information will be able to further advise you on the complete range of benefits you can receive with the card. Da Nele schon immer von einem kleinen Hostel geträumt hat, finden sie es super, mit der Vermietung der Wohnung in ihrem Haus, einen kleinen Schritt in diese Richtung zu machen.
