This is an East Austin ranch house. It is 4.5 miles from downtown - a $10 to $12 rideshare away. It is an excellent place to participate in festival life while still finding a relaxing home-base. Our bungalow is spacious and includes 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and ample shared space. The screened porch includes a dining area, a hammock swing, and many chairs to accommodate friendly bar-be-cues. The spacious backyard includes a grill, fire pit and chiminea.
The festival scene that is Austin creates new opportunities for friends old and new. Our Austin neighborhood is a quiet getaway from the bustle of the city while remaining nearby. This is a place to deepen connections, recharge, and then rejoin the fray. Everything you need to prepare excellent meals is in the kitchen and we have a glass for every beverage. The back porch is a really special place for long meals and epic hangs. We have an excellent hifi stereo and record collection. The main bedroom has a master bath that features a large jetted tub. There is a library with a robust selection of classic texts, but no TV. We cannot accommodate pets, but our house is great for kids. There is a washer/dryer in a separate laundry room connected to a car port. The home has energy efficient windows andbrand new HVAC system to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, such as it is here in Austin.
There are several bus stops. The closest is a five minute walk. We do not have Uber or Lyft (Keep Austin Weird) but we do have a ride-share and it's about an $10-12 RideAustin trip to downtown.
We are in a centrally located but this is a locavore house. There is a nearby farmers market. Additionally, there are backyard chickens to make your breakfast, a garden and fire pit. Anything growing in the garden is yours. The 300sq. ft. screened in porch has a large dining table, stereo, organ and hammock swing.
You will have access to the entire house.

If you are staying here, then that means we will be traveling. I'm always available via text for help or to answer questions about the house or Austin. We are new to hosting but have been using AirBnB for years a travelers. We look forward to making you comfortable in our home and are happy to recommend restaurants and local secrets, like the corner gas station with the best selection of craft beer in town.
Treat our space with respect, clean up after yourself, take the trash and recycling to the curb if it's Thursday, be cool to our neighbors and don't let a fire burn unattended in the pit or chimney.
I am a political science professor at a small college in Austin, TX. My wife and I love to explore new places through airbnb. Outside of reading and teaching Great Books, I'm interested in music and play in a few bands in my home town of Austin, TX. When visiting new places, I especially like to shop at local food markets and prepare meals at home, which makes airbnb ideal!
