Hillegom is a great location from which to explore the local areas such as the Keukenhof and bulb fields in spring. This lodging is located in an unusual place, but Loetie will meet you and take you where you need to go! She even offered to pick us up from the airport (Schiphol) but we were traveling by car. Once you get to the lodging you'll be very happy with it. Note: you will have to go up about 1.5 flights of stairs to get to it. Once inside you will be impressed with the wide views and sunny interior thanks to many windows. The living room had two comfortable sofas and a TV with cable and dvd-player. The lodging had a decent collection of DVDs, most were of the action variety. Lots of books on the shelves, all in Dutch. The bedrooms each had a sink/washstand which was so convenient. The beds were very, very comfortable! There were a queen-sized bed in one room and two twin beds in the other. The bedding was soft, fluffy, and warm. The kitchen is clean with a cookplate (2 burners), small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Loetie supplies coffee pads, tea bags, sugar, and salt and pepper. I have suggested to Loetie to add a few more cooking utensils such as spatulas, knives, etc. There were wooden spoons, small knives, bottle opener, can opener, and silverware. The cookplate takes a bit longer than the average stove to cook but it gets the job done. I don't recommend trying to saute on the cookplate or making pancakes. Loetie's place has a good set of pots and pans, some serving bowls, a full set of plates and bowls and glassware. The bathroom was super clean and pleasant, with a private toilet, lots of towels, and a rain-head shower! Note: Keep showers short as the hot water tank can run out around the 10-minute mark. In 20-30 minutes the hot water tank will be full and hot again. In all, we had a wonderful time! We visited the Keukenhof and also enjoyed the view of fields of tulips right our window at Loetie's place. I would recommend Loetie's place to everyone as long as they can do the stairs!
