This mixed dorm has 4 bunk beds & 1 single bed all with linens, towels plus ceiling fan & stand fan, ensuite bathroom with shower & cute mini garden sala. Mosquito nets provided (just ask).
Preferred visitors are budget nature lovers, seeking a GREEN environment, and those who respect that water is precious here & electricity is challenging at certain times of the year.
Manageable children over 12 years of age and pets are welcome.
Breakfast is now included with our NEW current rates.
Our hostel currently has 6 rooms with cosy common areas set in mini gardens.
The atmosphere and design is GREEN eco-friendly, with the use of organic products where possible.
The hostel is Smoke and Alcohol FREE, (meaning not allowed) as is Drugs, loud groups, parties & litter.
El Nido is growing so fast the town power is challenged to support electricity needs. Most hotels are providing noisy, fuel guzzling, expensive generators. We prefer to use our quiet back-up solar power.
Our location offers lots of positives like being in close proximity to the market, the terminal, the beach, plus many motorbike rentals and just a P10 ride by trike to downtown.
The tiny down side is we are a little close to the town power plant and its engine can be heard a little too much in some rooms. To reduce this hum, our planting of more bamboo around the edges of our building is baffling this sound.
This hostel is a complete building for the hostel. Construction is ongoing upstairs.
Our grassy garden alleyway and inside our front entrance has some chairs and tables for a hang out space.
The rooftop view-deck, hang out space, plus washing and basic cooking area is almost completed. Our upstairs hostel kitchen is already finished and now serving breakfasts and will soon be serving other meals.
Our 3 bigger dorm rooms might take another month for completion.

If you need important information or help, feel free to call me at my island home. In my stead, especially if you have any issue in your room (like an electrical fault of plumbing fault), let Pie or Ann know immediately and they will do their best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.
FYI: I'm English born, arrived in El Nido, (one of the early pioneers) in 1986, long before El Nido had a road or hotel. I discovered Malapacao Island, moved there soon after and have remained there these past 31 years.
Aside from my quality island time, I keep busy managing an organic farm, where I grow fruit and veggie, plus fish ponds on the mainland, as well as produce cultured mushrooms and raise animals, not to mention many dogs on the island. So if I have a choice, I rarely come to town.
On my profile you can read a little about my island life and more particularly why I have built this boutique designer hostel.
Skilled carpenters and plumbers are welcome to sleep on the roof in exchange for helping us build our hostel cuz finding local skilled staff is a real challenge here in El Nido.
For rainy humid days when bugs are abound, or for visitors sensitive to them, we use natural repellants, herbs and plants.
We offer mosquito nets and this includes daily set up. Also as extras, we often have citronella and lemongrass candles, essential oils and other mosquito deterrents as well as mosquito coils for those who want them. Please just order these items from our front desk. We sell heathy drinks and snacks.
Downstairs Room 1 and Room 3 have mini kitchens so for anyone staying in these rooms the cost is extra.
Likewise, as is the use on the roof for the dirty kitchen.
31 years ago I was blessed to find a tiny tropical island in the middle of the South China Sea, El Nido, Philippines to call home. Born in the UK, raised in Australia.
Having travelled extensively for many years I always craved to sleep (where possible) in gardens, on rooftops, beside rivers, streams and lakes with plenty of open spaces and quiet, gentle energy.
Many years ago I built the Alternative Inn on the beachfront of El Nido town and while it was running, it was amazingly popular for its unique ambiance, great vibes and spectacular views of El Nido bay, not to mention my birds-nests structures for dining right over the water..
Now aged 66 and retired, I mostly live on my private island, enjoying a quiet natural lifestyle, as a nudist, swimming, snorkelling, practicing yoga and Tai Chi, etc., and enjoying a healthy whole food diet with just the occasional likeminded visitor.
Remembering my preferences in hostel living, I have created The Elternative Hostel for visitors a little like myself. So for those seeking the unique, with a feeling of living in the garden or close to nature and in a quiet Smoke and Alcohol FREE environment, my Elternative Hostel might be a good option for your stay while in El Nido, Palawan
