You’ll love our cosy family cottage with its underfloor heating and large wooded garden set in the peaceful hamlet of Cwmbyr. Ideal for a romantic break for two or take the kids (2x2'6'' beds).
Recently restored Glandwr is close to the Brecon Beacons near Llandeilo with its excellent shops, restaurants and takeaways. The lively Community Village shop/pub is 1.5 miles up the lane.
Relax watching the wildlife from the cottage, or one of the seating areas in the garden and listening to the stream.
Glandwr has been completely rebuilt and modernised over the last couple of years but in a way that retains the character of a mid 19th century workman's cottage. The cosy family cottage comprises a sizeable double bedroom on the ground floor together with a modern fitted kitchen and shower room. The all new upper floor has a twin bedroom with 2 x 2'6" beds and a light and spacious lounge with patio doors overlooking the extensive garden. There is a spiral staircase between the two floors.
The cottage has the benefit of underfloor heating on both floors which, combined with the latest exterior wall insulation, provides a constant ambient temperature all year round.
As we regularly use the cottage ourselves the beds and chairs are comfy and you are welcome to use the games, books and DVDs etc. There is a larder with all the basic condiments, jams, tea, coffee etc. which you are welcome to use so long as you leave some for us when we next visit!
Glandwr cottage is set in the beautiful Welsh countryside. There are pubs and restaurants in the local towns and villages, and family-friendly activities. The Dolcauthi gold mine is nearby and the Red Kite feeding station is within easy travelling distance.
You will love the independent shops at Lampeter, Llandeilo and Llandovery. All 10-25mins drive. Carmarthen, with its mix of independent shops and major retailers is just over 30 minutes drive away.
The Cwmdu Community Village Shop/pub, staffed mostly by volunteers, is just a mile and a half away up the lane. You can also get an excellent meal there on a Saturday evening (booking recommended).
Glandwr has been recently awarded a 4 Star Rating by Visit Wales.
**** Please note that there is no landline or wifi and mobile phone reception is intermittent. For more information and pictures go to: glandwrcottage co uk
Guests will have full access to the cottage, timber summerhouse and the large wooded garden that extends to almost half an acre.
We must point out that in the garden there are uneven surfaces, many steps and decking, all of which can be slippery when wet. Also, bearing in mind that there is a spiral staircase the cottage and garden may prove challenging to those with mobility problems.
There is a stream running adjacent to the property and, although securely fenced off, we would not recommend young children be left unsupervised in the garden.
Assistance dogs are welcome but owners must be aware that the garden is not fully secure and there is livestock in the area.
Car parking in the lay by opposite.

Hi, Mark and I live in West Sussex and bought Glandwr 3 years ago and have fully renovated this old stone cottage (with the help of our excellent builders of course!). Although we and our family and friends use it a lot it is a shame to leave it empty so are letting it out on Airbnb as well.
We love our life in Sussex - close to the sea and the South Downs but it is also very busy. We had long dreamed of owning a holiday cottage somewhere beautiful and peaceful - the tranquility of Wales is perfect. We have made a lot of friends in and around Talley and Cwmdu and enjoy eating out and taking part in local activities.
We enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren, walking, gardening, reading, going to music concerts of all kinds and the theatre and especially sitting in the garden at Glandwr with a glass of wine watching and listening to the birds and the stream.
