you can sit and read a book, or listen to the local Tanzanian beat...eat fish, drink beer at $1 a bottle...There's not too much going on on the beach, which is pretty cool.

Sleep on the beach 5m from the Sea, views of local islands (we can take you there). You will love the people, the ambiance, the experience. We are humble and we are happy people. We have created a space on this beach, with a bar, a kitchen, with shaded areas too. It's where the true locals hang out. Our home is basic and it is clean, with a lavatory, shower and four posted bed complete with mosquito net. Above all, you will be safe and your possessions also.

Prostor

If you are on a budget, or even if you are not, more importantly, if you would like to experience life sleeping on the beach, within a community of local Tanzanians, either in a hammock or four posted bed, feeling safe and knowing that your possessions are too, then this could be home for you, for a few nights. Maga King is the boss amongst his friends who hang out here. If you were a single girl, you would be safe, these are lovely people.

Dostupno gostima

You have access to everything, not that there is much, but you will be looked after, minded over without being crowded. Here you will have access to the various fishermen who will bring their catch for you to select a meal and Maga will arrange for it to be prepared and cooked for you. A local baker brings bread and cakes and importantly, you will be paying the locals price, not an inflated Mazungu (European) price.

Interakcija s gostima

We will always be available to help/assist with anything. I realise that most European/Western visitors would love to experience the life we lead, with the sun on our backs, the sea at our feet, the freshest fish, the most authentic of contemporary Tanzanian life...but would loike to know they are in a safe place..well you have found it. Maga is a champion boxer, and has a calm about him which commands love and respect from his friends who support and have helped him to grow this little piece of heven just on the outskirts of Dar Es Salaam.

Ostale napomene

The sae can be hot immediately along this coast and there are a few hotels nearby (to help you navigate you way to us) White sands and The Giraffe Ocean View hotel where you can spend the day too. Whilst their kitchens offer a greater selection, it is 10-20 times more expencive. There are Islands just 20 minutes away with the most amazing empty beaches. For your peace of mind, you will be accompanied for as little or as much as you would like. You are 60 meters from an unbusy road with direct links into Dar or local shops.

I had a great time with Magha and the guys. They were welcoming and friendly, and I felt safe and secure - important things for a woman traveling alone. I didn't get to meet Richard as he was in England during my stay, but we did get the chance to Facetime once I arrived. The location is fairly secluded, for which I was happy, and there are a couple of islands to visit that are a short boat ride away. It's a fair distance from the city itself, so if you plan to wander around Dar, be prepared to take a regular taxi or a bajaji. The bajaji are much cheaper and way more fun - in other countries they're called tuk-tuks, if that helps to explain. The place is not fancy, (neither am I, so it worked for me), so if you need luxury then it's not for you. However, if you want to get to know some locals, eat some local food, (including fish for breakfast that is, literally, pulled out of the ocean an hour before you eat it), and see a little of the area that the average tourist doesn't get to see, then this is definitely worth a visit. Oh, and the ocean really is 5 meters from the door, but only at high tide ;-)
