Raghu Niwas is one of the two houses that comprise a family owned hotel in Mussoorie. The other house is called Madho Bhawan. Both houses were built in the 1890s. The family that owns the houses has lovingly restored the houses and has opened them up for people to stay when they are not using it themselves. Enjoy the unique privilege of staying in a genuinely historic home where every brick and tile speaks of years of family holidays, laughter, love and togetherness.
Raghu Niwas has 4 suites, each with its own access, that can sleep 4. The master bedroom leads into an inner room that is also a full sized double bedroom. Two bathrooms in the suite ensure that there is no crowding. Being an old house, the rooms are all interconnected and the access to both the bathrooms is through the smaller bedroom. The suites are characterised by spaciousness and airiness. A sitting room to have tea, a drink, play games or just hang around is what brings everyone together. There are many areas from where to enjoy the views - the coffee lounge on the first floor, the sun room on the ground floor, the open verandah next to the garden or the first floor sitting rooms. Kitchen facilities are available on both floors though the one on the first floor is better equipped to serve the whole house. Bring your own cooks or use the facilities offered by the hotel for food. The total carpet areas is in excess of 6000 square feet. There is a huge garden around the house with views of Mussoorie town on one side and the Doon valley on the other. Its hard to find a place that you can call home quite like this one.
Guests can use the gardens of Raghu Niwas and Madho Bhawan and explore the entire 3 acre property. We find that guest who stay in one house, generally prefer their own garden but we like to offer them the option! Both houses have their own driveways and guest entrance for cars but a path connects the two houses. Guests of Raghushree can be adventurous and climb the hill that is part of the property and experience their own private and dense pine forest. Of course, be careful of the monkeys that live there!

I will be available on phone but the best person to handle you requests is the manager on site. He lives on the premises and is a phone call away. He is a Mussoorie veteran and will be happy to give you any local tips, should you require them.
You will have full housekeeping service during your stay - a big advantage when you're travelling with a large group when the last thing you want to do on a holiday is clean and wash up. Meals are also available on request and we can share a rate card. The menu is limited but tasty. In case you would like to get adventurous on food, one of our staff members can go and collect the food from a restaurant of your choice (close to the house, since no one has cars or bicycles in Mussoorie!)
While in Mussoorie, manage your time so that you make the house a destination. We often get people who come to see the house as a tourist attraction and you will be living in it. No other hotel in Musssoorie town has the gardens and grandeur that Raghushree has so take some time to enjoy it. Don't miss the view of the lights of Dehradun at night. They look like a sea of stars from where you stand. Since the place is run as a hotel, service is available so feel free to use it. The manager can let you know the prices of food, laundry, bonfires etc.
While Wifi is available, the service provider is BSNL, the state-owned telecom company. The service is available most of the time and is pretty good but on occasion when the line goes down, it does take some time to repair. 3G signal is good, however and you can use your own data plan quite effectively.
- Some guests have brought pets to the property but we do not allow the pets inside. If you feel all right about having your pet stay outside in the covered verandah, you can bring him or her along. We do expect poop collection and we do not offer any special facilities for pets.

I am one of the siblings of a large family that co-owns this ancestral property in Mussoorie. I have listed both the houses that we own in Mussoorie that are run as a hotel, called Hotel Raghushree. I am retired now and my daughter helps me run the place. The houses are two British-era bungalows that were built by my grandfather. I think they were built before 1900 but definitely before 1910.
Raghu Niwas is one of the houses that is featured in the profile picture and the other house is Madho Bhawan. I live in Delhi but visit Mussoorie often. I have spent many many years of summer holidays in these houses and so has my large extended family. So these are genuine heritage, family holiday homes!
