This house is set on a hillside above the river valley, just outside Panajachel. The peacefulness of a country home in close proximity to downtown is what draws visitors.
Our guests can enjoy some of Guatemala's best coffee, which we roast ourselves at Crossroads Cafe in Panajachel, our business since 2000. Depending on the season and your preferences, breakfast includes eggs from our chickens, home made sour dough bread or blueberry pancakes with pure maple syrup, and fresh fruit.
We spent the better part of a decade to build this house with stones collected from the riverbed nearby, as well as cypress trees we cut on the grounds. Beautiful trees and valley views are visible through the big windows, which, along with the tall ceilings create a light and expansive space.
This room has two single beds and a window bed.
Attention to details, propane generated hot water in the shower (no "widow makers" here), unlimited filtered drinking water, and a warm, friendly reception are the elements we know travelers in Central America will appreciate.
You are welcome to hang out in the living/dining room, outside patio and gardens.
We speak English, Spanish and Afrikaans, and have opinions and suggestions on much that pertains to this area, based on our own experiences living here for the last 17 years.
Our security system is three big dogs. Although their looks are intimidating, they are friendly and are not allowed in the house. We also have a cat who lives outside.
Since the house is on a hill, there are several staircases from the entrance as well as inside.
