First the good things. This is a nice apartment with lots of space, actually far more than the two of us needed. It's in a great location, very close to Sagrada Familia, the Metro and shops and cafes. Its architecture is very interesting, but the decor is not - there's only one picture in the place, and it doesn't have much furniture, but there was enough for our needs. There is a washing machine and clothesline which we didn't use. The kitchen is pretty well equipped, but we did need help in using the stove-top. It worked fine once Ivan helped us with e-mailed instructions (in Spanish - thank goodness for (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)).
Our only real problem was in communication and accuracy; she had told us in writing that we'd be able to store our bags at about 9 a.m., which is the main reason why we chose the place. Then, about two days before we arrived, she told us in an e-mail that we wouldn't be able to store them until 12:30. This meant that we had to pay for a bag storage service at the Barcelona port, which cost us 45 euros. Then, when we arrived at 12:30 to check-in (the time she told us, and the time our bags were delivered), there was no one there. We had warned Ivan that we would have no phone with us, and so we were stranded on the street. Luckily a lovely woman in the bar/cafe below the apartment called her for us, and told us that she said that no, now we wouldn't be able to check in until 3 p.m. This was NOT what had been agreed upon. The lovely woman offered to let us put our bags in the back room of her bar/cafe; if she hadn't, I don't know what we'd have done for 2 1/2 hours. Meanwhile, we had already booked a walking tour of the city for 3 p.m., for which we couldn't show up. When Ivan did come at 3 to let us in, she said something about the person who was supposed to let us in having had an emergency; it was unclear since we don't speak Spanish and she doesn't speak English. To be fair, if we had had a phone the situation would have been easier (although no much due to the language problem), but it was the lack of accuracy and changes in plan that really annoyed us.
