I am very sorry that you did not have a nice stay at our apartment. I think it is clear that we have very different standards and tastes; however, our apartment is exactly as it appears in the many pictures you can see on the airbnb website and my global review is 4,6 out of 5.
As it is indicated on the airbnb website, we don’t have AC, but we have 2 fans (one in each room) which you can easily move around, and of course you can always open all the windows and even the doors because the neighborhood is so quiet and safe.
Again, as it is indicated, we don’t have a TV (actually, most of the families who have stayed in our apartment thank us for this!). If having a TV is important for you on a trip, I can understand this, but I suggest that you check that there is one in the apartment you are looking at before you reserve a place to stay.
You can also see on my announcement that families are more than welcome, but that we don’t have any special equipment for them (such as a crib or a highchair for a baby).
As you can see from the 3 pictures of our kitchen, we have 4 lovely antique chairs and they are as comfortable as they look.
The brown couch was both new 5 years ago and are very clean, as is the case for the antique couch that has been in my family for 2 generations (and was always well taken care of).
I called the cleaning lady (Camille, whom I totally trust!) who prepared the apartment before your arrival (I paid her for 3 hours work) and she confirmed to me that of course she cleaned the floor (with the vacuum cleaner and then the wet mop) and of course she made up the 2 beds with freshly washed sheets. She also cleaned the bath tub, which is not new but is not at all old and dirty! Camille is as competent as she is honest, and she has very high standards of hygiene.
She told me that she did forget to put out a new hand soap. I am sorry about that and I would be happy to pay you back if you had to buy one. Just tell be how much it was. She also said that it is totally possible that she forgot to close the curtain in front of the washing machine and the dryers. I don’t consider folded towels and a box of detergent (both at the disposition of airbnb guests) a mess, but if you did not want to see these articles, I don’t think that closing the curtain was very arduous.
Camille also confirmed that she cleaned the fridge and made sure that nothing was not fresh and or inedible! It is totally true that the top part of the fridge is full of sauces and jars, but I can assure you that they are all really good to eat! As I wrote to you before your arrival, you are more than welcome to help yourself to anything you want use to cook! Our guests really appreciate having a variety of cooking ingredients at their disposal!
In the fridge, you still had 2 big shelves totally empty and 1 of the 2 lower vegetable drawers. In the other vegetable drawer, even though there were some onions and apples (once again at your disposal), there was still a lot of room for your items.
It is totally exact that our fridge makes a little noise every time you close it. It is not loud at all and it last about 5 seconds. I am sorry that it bothered you so much. Out of the more than 50 guests who have stayed in our house, you are the first one who has complained about it.
Camille also confirmed to me that she killed the one and only ant that she saw in the kitchen, that she did not see any fruits fly anywhere in the apartment and no ants in any other room. When I arrived home, there was no trace of any fruit flies anywhere in the apartment, so I really don’t understand how it is possible that there were flies there only for the 2 days you were in the apartment. (Maybe you left some fruit out in the rooms?). Since I have come back, I saw one ant. I can understand that it is not pleasant to see an ant, but it happens, especially when you have a nice garden and more than 25 plants inside the house.
Some doors (but mostly the floor to be honest!) creak a little bit, as is the case with any house that was built a certain time ago with some wood. Sorry if you noticed it, again you are the first person to ever mention it! The kitchen cabinets are clean but vintage, again as you can clearly see on the many and accurate pictures of our kitchen.
Usually the check-in is after 5 pm. You informed me that you would arrive around 1-2 pm and so I arranged everything so the apartment would be all ready for you at 1pm. (I must point out that most people would at least send the host a simple thank you for changing the check-in time).
I was available all week-end to answer any questions or comment, and you never contacted me.
The above explanations constitute the reasons why I don't understand your comments and your request for money.
Once again, my apologies for my written English.
