Have as much privacy or interaction as you choose. Greg and Virginia are in and out most days.
Non smokers, thanks.
A warm welcome to our Airbnb guests. We trust you have a great stay with us and in Auckland. If there is anything we can do to assist you, please feel free to ask.
To make your stay with us as easy as possible we have assembled some basic information and requirements below:
While Mt Albert and Auckland is generally quite safe, we have installed security systems in our property. When you arrive you will be given codes to the security system, and a set of keys. Please keep the security codes confidential to you, and look after the keys. If you lose the keys we will need you to cover the cost of replacement. We ask that whenever you leave the property unattended, you lock all doors and activate the security system.
The security system includes smoke detectors.
We have a good level of public transport options in Mt Albert, especially for travel to and from the city and inner city suburbs. Both the train and the bus are within a 500-metre walk, and will get you to and from the city within approximately 30 minutes. At peak hour times the frequencies are 15 minutes.
For downtown and waterfront cbd locations the train is probably more convenient. For mid town, the bus is a better option.
You should consider purchasing an AT Hop Card – this provides discounts of 20% or more on the cash fare, and there are further discounts for students and some other groups. Go to (EMAIL HIDDEN) for further detail.
Other local destinations
Unitec and AIS St Helens are both located within a 15-minute walk from our property. Auckland Zoo, the Museum of Transport and Technology(MOTAT),Chamberlain Park GolfCourse, and Western Springs Stadium are within a 20-minute walk.
Eden Park is a 30-minute walk, or 10 minutes by bus or train. It is located in Kingsland, a thriving food and beverage and dining strip with well-known cafes, restaurants and bars.
Nowhere in Auckland is very far from the beach, and we are no exception. Our nearest beach is Pt Chevalier, a delightful inner harbour beach with a pohutakawa-clad path down the hill to a sandy beach with a western orientation. On a sunny evening the beach is very pretty. It is very popular with the local community and is swimmable about 2 hours or so each side of high tide.
Pt Chevalier is approximately 4km away, and there is a regular bus service just outside our frontgate.
Other harbour beaches can be accessed by bus from the city. One of the prettiest, St Heliers Beach, is also serviced by the same bus route that services Pt Chevalier Beach. The trip to St Heliers, which is a delightful seaside suburb, takes about 50 minutes by bus.
Auckland’s west coast beaches are renowned for their black sand and high energy. Accessing these beaches by public transport is not possible, but a visit to them is recommended. Remember, if you are swimming you must stay within the flags for safety.
Other indoor swimming is available at Mt Albert Grammar School public indoor pool, just a 5minute drive from our house.
We do not provide laundry facilities however there is a very good Laundromat in our local shipping centre, a five-minute walk from us. Laundry can be left with the Laundromat staff and picked up at a later time.
We ask that you not dry wet laundry in your room.
Bedding, towels and facecloths
We supply fresh bedding with our Airbnb rooms, along with fresh towels and flannels.
All sheets, pillowcases, towels and facecloths are freshly laundered before you arrive. Towels and facecloths are replaced as required during your stay, and sheets and pillowcases every week you are with us.
While we have designated your bathroom as shared, on most occasions you will be the only person using it on a regular basis. We ask that you take the usual precautions while using the bathroom so that it is kept clean and useable. Towel rails are provided for use by guests.
The use of other rooms
Please feel free to utilise the dining room and the lounge room. We do request your assistance in keeping these areas reasonably tidy and useable by all of us.
In addition we have some verandahs, which can be very pleasant, especially during spring, summer and autumn. Again, feel free to use these spaces.
We do not supply meals for our guests. We do supply coffee and tea making facilities within the Airbnb rooms and we keep these stocked with basic supplies. Guests are welcome to discuss with us casual use of our household kitchen facilities on a case-by-case basis.
We do ask that you do not eat food in your Airbnb rooms. We are more than happy for you to eat in our dining room.
Other local food options
Mt Albert is known for its wide range of food outlets in the local shopping centre, and many are open until late at night. There are a wide variety of ethnic cuisines on offer, and good meals can be had for as little as $7.
We have ample on road parking immediately outside our property. We recommend you park on the side road opposite our property.
