Hans and I live on an attractive, well-kept farm, 10 minutes drive from the World Heritage Site of Røros. Hans is Norwegian and I am British. The light & airy room is spacious, clean and peaceful. It has a wood-burning stove and nice views. It has its own kitchen and a toilet. The shower is in the main house (next door). A simple breakfast will be provided, along with tea and coffee.
The original farm house is over 300 years old and has been the home of many interesting characters over the years, including a lot of folk musicians. Hans and I are gradually renovating the whole place, while trying to preserve as much as possible. Once run as a dairy farm, the barn has been converted to a cultural centre, 'Fjøsakademiet', and our neighbour cultivates our fields to grow grass for his cows.
The accommodation you are looking at is in one of two houses here on the farm. We live in the main house and are usually on hand to advise you. From here, there is a lovely 10-15 minute walk down to the river, or a hike up to Storwartz mine, if you are feeling more energetic.. The local river is good for trout, but you will need a license. In the winter there are excellent cross country ski tracks - and you can ski from here to Roeros if you are really keen! The nearest commercial dog sledding firm is 5 km away, but you may hear the sound of our neighbour's husky farm across the field. At some times of the year, you will see elk, reindeer and cranes.

We enjoy meeting our guests and will do our best to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Please let us know if there is anything extra you need, like access to a washing machine or iron. We can suggest sightseeing, restaurants, events, local dog-sledders.. Sometimes we even run a café in the barn. You can check for events on Fjøsakademiet's website.
We have two cats that sleep on the landing, but are not allowed into guest rooms. The standard for this room is single beds, but we have a double (inflatable) if you prefer. We can provide a cot at no extra charge.
Please note this flat has its own toilet, but for the shower you will need to come into the main house. (Don't worry, we are very friendly!) If you would prefer a room with its own bathroom you might like to check out the other room we have on AirBnB, 'Cozy room on farm near Røros', though this room is a bit smaller.
We don't mind noise. You have to not mind cats. You may only smoke outdoors - even in the depths of Winter. Please do as the Norwegians do, and remove outdoor shoes in the house.

I am British, early 60s and married to Hans, who is Norwegian. We have children and grandchildren, and live on a converted farm out in the Norwegian countryside, on the edge of a World Heritage Site. Sounds peaceful, and it is, but we are both very busy. We like to travel when we get the chance, and are very sociable. I am interested in culture, while Hans prefers fishing and forestry. We love food and appreciate red wine..
