This enchanted house is located half a mile down a track, deep in the Wiltshire woods. Bluebells, wild garlic and often a deer, muntjac or heron in the garden, the house is on the edge of an estate with incredible walking from the doorstep.
The Mill was listed before with another host (though we own it) and got 5* rave reviews (see below)!
The Mill is full of surprises. From the garden side, it appears to have just two floors. There are actually three. The ground floor is a spectacular double height 50’ kitchen/living room. The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for serving feasts on the long oak table with seating for 10. Sofas and arm chairs surround a huge wood burner. The heated limestone floors keep the place snug in the winter. Thick stone walls keep things cool in the summer. There is a WC downstairs.
A giant spiral staircase climbs through the building. The house sleeps 6-8. The galleried first floor has a mini grand piano and a double bed (for sleeping places 7 & 8). The third bedroom is on this floor with double glass doors that make it feel like you are sleeping in the trees.
Two vaulted bedrooms, one with king-size bed and the other with 2 single beds, offer views in all directions. Between them is the family bathroom - shower, roll-top bath and all.
Outside, a stream babbles passed the french windows in the kitchen. A large garden surrounds a millpond with an island accessible only by the (tiny) rowing boat. There is a exquisite wooden guest house at the end of the pond available by separate negotiation. The mill has a special wilderness status with roe deer, muntjacs, heron, badgers, foxes foraging through wild orchids and foxgloves all over the place. In the spring, the woods are packed with bluebells and wild garlic. The house is on the edge of a 700-acre estate with spectacular walking right from the doorstep. Please note, there is a public footpath through the property so every now and again, a walker wanders through.
The Mill is located at the end of a long, quite bumpy track and is nestled in a valley. Guests have access to the garden, pond, stream and all surrounding estate walks. There is a small boat for the pond, a garden table and chairs as well as a fire pit.

We restored the mill 18 years ago, and now live half way up the track and are available to help with any questions that might come up during your stay.
Some testimonials from previous guests: Ana
The mill is a great, unique place full of character and was just what we wanted for a weekend in the country. Cosy and secluded but clean and modern
We had a lovely stay at the Enchanted Mill. A beautiful and peaceful location. Communication was good with the host. Stayed with family, plenty of space for us all. Thanks again.
5 friends and I had a fabulous weekend at The Mill. It was a perfect spot for our yoga retreat; full of charm, very secluded but easy to find, generously and comfortably furnished with a large kitchen and living area to gather, cook together and relax. We loved the relaxed, eclectic character of The Enchanted Mill.
We had a truly fantastic time at the mill-thank you Alyssa! Would highly recommend
The host was very welcoming, lovely place to stay. Secluded enough yet not too far from the main road and amenities. Wonderful building, so much character, brilliantly renovated. Very close to some scenic walking routes. Would happily stay again.
This was the perfect house for a relaxing weekend in the countryside. Perfectly located for great walks or trips to Avebury or Lacock. The house has an amazing open plan lower floor for great communal meals, and the log fire is the cherry on the cake. I would come back here in a flash. I just wish we had been able to stay longer. A lovely house with lovely owners.
We had a lovely stay at the stunning mill. really quiet and off the beaten track perfect place for a weekend away from it all. Beautiful setting, just make sure you bring supplies!
Really lovely house with loads of space, seclusion and great hosts. Couldn't fault it.
Alyssa and Josh's mill is such a beautiful building and is full of character and charm. The location is perfect, down the end of a long dirt road and very peaceful. The boat is a nice touch and it's great to use the fire pit outside in the evening! Thanks for a lovely stay!
It really did feel like stepping off the grid for a weekend especially with no cell service (although WiFi kept us in touch). There's nothing like waking up to sheep in the garden or a gentleman riding past on a horse. It was an amazing girly weekend getaway; would definitely recommend a car if you wanted to get out and about or were around for more than just the weekend.
Off the beaten track - a wonderful retreat. Great open communal space which was perfect for us as we spent time relaxing and eating with friends. We enjoyed spending an evening in garden around the fire pit. Also, a perfect place for a day out in Bath. Would definitely return again.
Fantastic property, great downstairs space - all open plan and plenty of space for everyone and everything (we had 6 adults, 2 dogs and a baby and there was loads of room). Lovely wood burning stove as well which was great to have going in the evening. Really nice owners, leave an OS map for you which is very considerate and there are lots of lovely walks right from the doorstep so no need to get into the car. Very relaxing, quiet space away from it all - couldn't recommend it enough for some time away with friends or family.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Enchanted Mill. We really did feel like we were in a real life fairytale! The location is fab and the mill itself is wonderful. Alyssa and Josh made us feel so welcome and were really up for us making it our home during our stay. Wished we had stayed longer now. Highly recommend a visit!
I went with my wife and 3 kids. We had an amazing time. The house is beautifully furnished throughout. A great kitchen. The surroundings are magnificent. I would recommend this and we will be going again
This is a really special place. Lovely house tasteful and quirky which was a perfect space for our quiet birthday celebrations. The location hidden in the countryside feels secluded and private. I would definitely recommend this place for a group getaway or special evening. We will try and come back some day! All the best, Alex et Marie XX
Absolutely stunning setting - surrounded by woods and sheep. We were there with small kids and it was a wonderland of discovery for them. The track leading from the road to the house is a very bumpy and rocky dirt track - so keep in mind when driving in.
The house itself is very charming and had mostly everything we needed. It did feel like our own rustic country home!
It is also worth noting there is a stream and a pond so small children must be monitored by adults at all times and if you build open fires, this is, of course, your responsibility too.
Please only people who respect and care for the environment need apply. It is expected that the house will be left in the same condition that it is found in.
There is a pond in front of the mill; while young children are welcomed, they are here at your risk - please keep an eye on them!
