This was an unusual and difficult booking.
It was Janet’s first Airbnb booking, and her group didn’t understand the Airbnb strapline of living like a local. We met the group on arrival, and whilst Janet was pleasant, her group were boisterous and we did ask them to quieten down. By 4pm, within an hour of checking in, the neighbours contacted me to say they were worried as the group were drinking alcohol and getting much louder. The neighbours were worried that the noise could continue into the evening. We sent Janet an Airbnb message to voice our concerns, but she didn’t respond. We tried calling and texting, but again this was ignored. We therefore had no alternative but to return to the property to speak to the group about their noise levels. Janet refused to come out of the house to speak to us which was rude and made communication really difficult. The neighbours did say the group later apologised for their noise levels and there were no further complaints during their stay, but this does not excuse their disregard for the house rules and ignoring our communication and visit.
