Where to eat in Havana?
First, we can prepare you meals for a modest price. Just ask!
Second: There is an application called "A la mesa" that you should download before arriving in Cuba, it works offline and it will give you access to the addresses, menus and prices of restaurants around the city and elsewhere in Cuba.
Third: You have access to a kitchen, refrigerator and cooking utensils so you can cook your own meals. Ask the family where to buy food!
It is important that you know that we do not have wi-fi or cable internet access in the house. In fact there are not many places and people in Cuba with such a service.
There are two ways you can connect to the internet. The first is that you have your own plan when you arrive in Cuba, you should make sure that your internet provider is aware of the country you are visiting, some providers offer temporary plans; however do not be surprised if access is slow or poor. The second option is to buy internet cards, Cuba's telecommunications company called "Etecsa" sells such cards for 1.50 CUC, you should have for about an hour of connection. To connect you should find parks around the city as well as in front of hotels, it would not be hard since you will see people standing by checking their cellphones, tablets and computers, then just follow the instructions on the card. Beware that wi-fi is often slow and poor quality.
There are also a few places near Etecsa centres, where you can have access to a desk computer. There is usually a line of people waiting to have access to one. It can be long sometimes.
There are two Wifi spots near our home, one is in a park in the corner of Carlos II Boul and Belascoain street, the other one is in the corner of Manglar and Oquendo street. Don't hesitate to ask the family for directions!
