Great location, with nice view of the beach across the street. Very comfortable and clean with lots of room, and a nice kitchen. Master bedroom was very nice with comfortable king sized bed, and the balcony was great. After a heavy rain the front porch flooded a little but dried up quickly.
Peggy's cottage is a lovely place with great access to a quiet beach. It actually has TWO pullout couches, which was a nice surprise as our guests had ample room. The kitchen had everything we needed and had it not been raining we would have enjoyed her charcoal grill and outside furniture. A cute little box turtle visited us every day! The A/C was great as was the wifi, modern luxuries very helpful during those summer storms!
We very much enjoyed our stay here! It is right across the street from the beach with nothing to obstruct the view, the beach was not crowded yet it was close to many restaurants, stores, etc. The cottage itself has plenty or room for a large group with extra bedding options. It is not brand new or recently updated but it doesn't claim to be. It was comfortable and clean. It had everything we needed and a few extras thrown in--beach towels and chair, umbrella, net and fishing pole for use, laundry room, outside seating. The kitchen had lots of pots and pans, a coffee maker with coffee and filters and plenty of mugs. Peggy was very easy to deal with--prompt with questions and flexible with requests! We would definitely like to stay here again!
I've seen mixed reviews here, but I was pleasantly surprised. First off, this place is far less expensive than others nearby, so no it doesn't come with muffins, coffee, updated furnishings and extras that lot's of AirBnBs come with. Although you don't pay much to fit quite a few people (and possibly dogs) with an incredible view of the beach! The pictures don't come close to doing it justice. The top bedroom has a lovely patio off of it that overlooks the ocean and nothing obstructs the view. This house is technically not on the side of the street of the ocean, but that doesn't matter one bit. You just cross the street and walk several steps are on the beach. There is also nothing built across the street, so you might as well be on the beach. This house did have cooking utensils that we used, but it's mostly just the necessities. There was no blender, coffee maker or butter, but there was a roll of paper towels, a few rolls of toilet paper, pots, pans, towels and silverware. It comfortably fit 9 of us and a few dogs. I would most definitely stay here again. It has perfect views, easy beach access and is close to a Piggly Wiggly for anything you may have left at home & all sorts of attractions.
Overall, the stay wasn't bad. But I can't write a "good" review. The couches needed to be cleaned badly. They were covered in dust and looked very worn. Though the rest of the house was very clean. We were also rushed out of the house at 9:30am when the cleaning lady arrived. Everything on the listing said checkout was at 11:00am. When I contacted Peggy, she said it was a mistake, that the checkout was supposed to show 9:00am. This miscommunication completely changed our travel plans.
This beach house was PERFECT for our short weekend visit to the beach. Nestled right across the street from the beach, we had immediate access to a pristine, clean & white sandy beach, a fun tide pool for the kiddos, and hardly any folks around us (it's also April!). Our neighbors were friendly, gave us tips for the local restaurants (we loved Killer Seafood, and will be back to try their infamous key lime pie!) and it felt safe. We loved the small, charming feel of the house, but there were enough rooms to accommodate all of us! Amenities were in great condition, and it was very kid friendly (for small wandering hands of our almost 1.5yo). We loved the view from the same top deck, and given more time at this place, we would have used it more. Peggy was very prompt in answering our messages, and check-in, check-out was a breeze. Selfishly we don't want a lot of people to stay here, because we loved the little oasis so much, but we had to share! ❤️❤️ We will be coming back to enjoy more time at this wonderful place! Port St. Joe is a small little town, but it was pretty busy for an April weekend, yet family friendly, and fun!
