STABLE COTTAGE ( NEAR GLENDALOUGH)
The Cottage is in a group of original 18th Cent Irish farm buildings in the Wicklow Hills, 6 km from Glendalough ruins and National Park trails. Located at the home and studios of artist Patrick Walshe and his designer wife Rosalind, it is set in a courtyard off a quiet roadway (L6124), 4km from the villages of Laragh and Rathdrum, one hour from Dublin city. It is an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of Ireland. A peaceful rural hideaway.
Perfect as a quiet getaway, for hiking the mountains, or even as a base for exploring Dublin and the Southeast if you come from overseas. A friendly, cozy, country experience with a wood burning stove and exceptional comfort. A lot of thought has gone into the renovation, making this a special place to relax.
The Stable Cottage is a completely separate building from the Walshe’s traditional Irish home but has a common driveway and courtyard. Relax in the garden or sit by the fish pond in the rose courtyard. We welcome you to share our rural haven surrounded by sheep fields, trees and birdsong.
We have two very friendly dogs, Jellybean and Popeye, but please leave yours at home as we are surrounded by sheep fields and chasing the sheep does not go down well with the farmers !
Our water comes from our own well and is the most delicious mountain beverage, straight from the tap!!!
There is a gas fired barbeque and an outside wood-fired pizza oven for the adventurous!
- No Hiking Boots in the house please.
- Our broadband is not city standard, but is adequate for emails and Netflix.
We can organise emergency washing/drying
Artist Patrick Walshe, the owner is often available on request for art discussions, local insights, walks, tall tales and hiking guidance. On the other hand you can expect total privacy if you so desire.
