Guras Homestay in one of the villages of Sikkim is an initiative of the Government to promote tourism, preserving the local tradition of Sikkim. Creation of a network of legally protected area, ban on commercial exploitation of selected medicinal plants and hunting of and trade in, several species of wildlife and establishment of few biodiversity parks are some of the initiatives taken here. The trekking route, Kartok cave, Monasteries and the neighboring forests are some of the attractions.
A journey of 30 Kilometers from Gangtok and 124 kilometers from Siliguri is Pakyong, the sub division of East Sikkim. Yakten is a small village about an hours drive uphill Pakyong. The entire village at Yakten contributes to the village tourism promotion. As you reach Yakten, you'll see a wooden Gate describing the details of all homestays inside. A little walk away from the gate is my place where I run my homestay.
The house has a single room with a simple bed, wardrobe, table and an attached bathroom. The attached bathroom are tiled with wash basin, Shower area, commode and geyser.
There is a courtyard outside the house. You will see many blooming flowers in and around.
You can access your room, kitchen, courtyard and the farms.

My name is Amit. I have rented a room in my house. I'm a farmer by nature but due to the village tourism promotion in our village, we've indulged ourselves in hospitality sector by renting our places for the guests and travelers.
