Villa Amala (pure in Sanskrit) is a contemporary 3BR house on the riverfront surrounded by trees and rice padi. All the bedrooms and living areas have unobstructed view. The open living area can be opened fully to experience the partial outdoors or can be entirely closed. One can enjoy the best of both worlds, being entirely in nature and also feeling protected from the wild. All rooms equipped with fans and AC. This villa is part of a secured compound of villas located in a small village.
A nomad at heart with background in Art & Design, I was born near Lake Toba, Sumatra and have lived in Singapore, New York, Shanghai and finally settled in the island of Bali. I worked in Website design in the late 90s in New York, and started a fashion business in Shanghai in 2003. In 2010, together with my architect husband, we moved to Bali to start our new family and also designed and built houses in Jimbaran overlooking ocean and bay area, and Sukawati by the river and rice padi. We are fluent in English, Chinese, Indonesian. And our home is filled with eclectic objects from our travels. Our everyday cuisine is a mixture of all the cultures we have absorbed over the years. We will starting a small vegetable & herb garden for our healthy needs.
In 2016, We are starting a new art & design studio with art exhibitions and residency program which will include active collaborations with international and Indonesian artists & designers working on art products (furnitures & accessories, books etc). As hosts, we can give tips to the best secret spots as we don't like to go with the mainstream crowd.
