I live upstairs so please come and find me if you need anything. If I am not home, I will give you a cellphone number upon arrival.
Doggies: I have 2 very friendly dogs – Apple & Safyra. They usually stay upstairs or in the back yard. They like to escape through the front door, however, if given the opportunity. For this reason please ensure that both front doors are closed tightly at all times.
Smoking: For the health and safety of all our guests, ours is a smoke-free home. If you do smoke, please do so a minimum of 10 feet away from any doors and windows and use the can provided under the front porch to dispose of your butts.
Water: Here in Old Town we have our water delivered by truck (September through May). If the water tank runs dry between scheduled fill-ups I have to call the driver and pay an additional $105 for the call-out. Please help us conserve water by ensuring taps are closed tightly and limiting your showers to 5 minutes. Showering with a friend also helps.
Vehicles: If you have arrived by car, or have rented one, please park anywhere to the left of the front door. This way your vehicle will not be blocking the water truck access. Please note that there is $10/night plug in fee for your vehicle in winter, should this be necessary.
Internet: You will find the wifi password on the white board in the kitchenette. Here in Yellowknife there is limited bandwidth, so please limit photo up/downloads. Also no movie downloads such as Netflix, or live streaming. Thank you!
Quiet Time: My guests are welcome to come and go all evening (the front door will be unlocked) but I ask that you please observe quiet time between 11 pm and 7 am. Please do not shower (because water pump will run) or cook during this time (to avoid smoke detector activation or general noise that may disrupt the sleep of other guests).
Security: Because my guests usually come and go all evening, I leave the front doors unlocked. You will receive a key to your room. Please leave the key in the door if you happen to check out when I am not here. Although we have never had a problem with security, we do recommend that you keep all your belongings in your room and lock your room when you go out, to avoid confusion with other guests’ belongings.
Breakfast: Breakfast will be set out in the kitchenette around 9 am until 11 am. If you are looking for breakfast during this time and none is available, it may be possible that earlier guests were very hungry! Don’t worry, I likely have more upstairs, so just ask, and I will bring more down. Help yourself to coffee/tea any time. There is also an assortment of hot and cold cereals, milk and juice if you prefer, or need to eat breakfast earlier or later.
Check-Out: Check-out time is 11 am on the day of your departure. If necessary, you are welcome to store your luggage under the front steps and retrieve it later. Keep in mind that any belongings left are done so at your own risk.
- Quiet hours are from 11:00pm-7:00am
My name is Cathy Allooloo. I have lived in Yellowknife since 1981. I own and operate an outdoor adventure training and tours company, NARWAL Northern Adventures. I have been operating NARWAL B&B since 1994.
I am passionate about the North and my community. I love sharing it with other people!
My favourite Yellowknife pastimes are enjoying the outdoors with my family. I spend my winters skijoring with my dogs and snowmobiling. In the summer, I am usually found out on the water in a canoe or kayak.
I love Yellowknife, and I can't wait to share my home with you!
