My involvement with guests, is directly related to how the rooms are rented and whether or not guests prefer to make their own breakfast or would prefer if it was prepared.
I prefer to give my guests as much privacy as possible even though I do reside on the property. I will generally be available to help with anything you may need. I may require occasional access to take care of plants, fish tank and garbage, but will be sure to communicate with your regarding the best time for you.
There are two bicycles available for rent with helmets for guests who are interested in touring the local area.
Please NOTE: Breakfast is only provided for those you are staying a week or less and for those who are paying at the regular rates. Long terms stays do not include breakfast, unless prior arrangements have been made.
Although our regular check in is usually 2 PM in the case where someone is renting all the rooms, check in will be 4 PM, as there is not enough turn around time to do laundry, cleaning and preparing the space. We will try to have every thing ready, but generally we require 6-8 hours normally to to everything that needs to be done. So we ask for your patience should we need a little extra time, but of course we will do our best to be punctual.
*****Price does not include 8.375% sales tax & 3% Room Occupancy Tax which is payable to the host on arrival.*****
We do however provide weekly cleaning service and change of linens for long term guests and daily tidying up for daily guests.
Please feel free to inquire if you have any additional needs.
Requires permission from the host prior to booking. If bringing a pet, it must be small, trained, and friendly. If you plan to leave the pet alone while you are out, you will need to provide a crate and blankets to cover and protect couches.
We understand that accidents happen, so please notify us, regardless of the time, so that we can assist in cleanup.
(We ask that when cooking with pans, NOT to put them in the dishwasher. Use only hot water and NO SOAP to clean. We do come in to tidy up if you prefer not to do it yourself.
If anyone is planning on sleeping on the couches, I will provide proper bedding and request that you use them. Sleeping on the couch at night without bedding creates a cleaning problem, so please use sheets.
If you are taking the entire house check in will not be until 4 PM, due to the amount of work and time required to complete laundry, cleaning etc.

The wooden shutters, window boxes, and courtyard next to the gurgling creek, all come together to create an old world European charm. Dating back to the late 1700's it is believed to have been the first horsedrawn firehouse in Piermont built by the Erie Line Railroad and used by the village people sometimes in the 1850's as the Village Hall.. The Firehouse is located on the Sparkill Creek, whose tidal waters flow to the Hudson River, cascading from a man-made waterfall that passes under the oldest bridge in Piermont. The creek was once used as a canal for barge traffic and you can still see the curious little draw bridge, also called a lift bridge made by the King Bridge Company in 1890 just downstream behind the post office. It is the only example of its kind and is considered a local treasure.
The back of the house was used to film a movie in 1916, in which the creek was turned into a Venetian Canal, for the box office success "The Hungry Heart". Just a short walk brings you into the business section of Piermont, where in 1980 Woody Allen filmed the "Purple Rose of Cairo".
There are numerous events, fairs, and farmer's markets all summer long, with an array of good restaurants, to suit every palate and buget. Reminiscent of the'60's coffee houses you'll find live entertainment at the "Turning Point", where you can still see entertainment greats such as Melanie, and Richie Haven, to mention a few.
Piermont has had it's share of history, being the starting point for the Erie Railroad, which spanned 447 miles and ended in Dunkirk on Lake Erie. There was also a secondary railroad line which is now the bicycle path.
In the early 1900's it became a resort town well known for its boating and bathing. A walk out to the Pier will reveal its use as an embarkation point for Europe-bound troops during World War II. Now the factories are gone, as are the railroads, but the community still attracts boaters, fishermen and tourists, as well as actors and people working in the television and movie industry.
