Enjoy peace and privacy in my renovated 1950's split-plan home. Room has Twin XL bed, private entrance, private bath, and a doorway to the kitchen. Surf the net on the Smart TV or plug your laptop into the LAN Jack (cable provided). I don't cook (just coffee in the morning) but there's plenty of room in the fridge and I have cookware & utensils if you do. Just clean up after (no dishwasher). Borrow my canoe or kayak for a wildlife adventure on the creek or Bay or catch a few rays on the patio.
The Guest will have a reserved parking space in the home's carport and can enter directly into the room via the carport. Upon entering, the Guest will find the bathroom (shower, no tub) on the right and a pocket door to the kitchen to the left. The Simmons Beauty Rest Twin XL bed will accommodate taller guests, and there's plenty of closet space and a dresser for your things. There's a desk to set up your laptop, or you can email or surf the Web on the Smart TV. You can access Netflix if you have an account, or throw a movie in the DVD player. I only have a couple dozen DVDs but I leave about a dozen in the room and I'd be happy to lend you one of the others I have. Go through the pocket door and you'll find that the kitchen is equipped with good-quality, rarely-used cookware and utensils if you cook. You can also use the oven, microwave, toaster oven, Magic Bullet blender or toaster. Fully half of the fridge (my former roommate's side) is empty and awaiting whatever you might want to put in there. Help yourself to coffee from around 7am to 5pm. If it's too stale for your taste I'll make a fresh pot. The room overlooks Catfish Creek, which flows through The Oaks Preserve and into the North branch of North Creek. An adventurous paddler might be able to find his/her way out into Little Sarasota Bay.
There's a small dining table in the kitchen if you prefer to eat there instead of in front of the TV (like me). You'll also have access to the washer/dryer located in the breezeway between the house and garage. Feel free to have coffee or read on the patio or down on the dock. You're also welcome to borrow my kayak or canoe to explore a relatively pristine Florida estuary. Don't worry about the gators. If you leave them alone they won't bother you.

I'm self employed and home most of the time when I'm not out doing a job, so I'll generally be around if you need anything. If the doors between the kitchen and my part of the house are open, just holler for me. If they're closed, leave a sticky note by the coffee pot or text me.
I have a renter who lives in an efficiency/guest quarters in my converted garage. Guests will probably never see her, but because she goes to bed early, Guests should be respectful of her (and other neighbors) and be quiet if coming or going after 10pm. Because my bedroom is at the opposite end of the house, TV or music at night at reasonable volume won't bother me at all.

I'm a quiet 57 year-old writer/craftsman with two listings on Airbnb: The part of my split-plan home I think of as the "South Wing," with a private entrance and bath, and a condominium apartment I own that I'll always think of as "Dad's Condo." The South Wing of my home has a pocket door that connects the room to the kitchen/dining area. I installed a set of bi-fold doors between the kitchen and the rest of the house so I'd have privacy as well. This has worked out well; I had a friend living in the South Wing room from 2001 until 2009 when he moved. I've had two other housemates in the room since then, each for about three years. After my last housemate moved out a friend suggested offering the room to Air B&B Guests. That has worked out so well that I decided to offer my seasonally rented turnkey-furnished condo to Airbnb Guests. When I'm not working on the house or yard or doing odd jobs (mostly just for friends and neighbors anymore), I'm either reading, writing, or working on a video blog. Pretty much my only social activity anymore is working out at the YMCA at 6 am every morning except Sunday, when I like to either take my kayak out on the Bay or go to the beach.
