My place is close to nature, hot springs, Primavera forest, and pre-hispanic sites such as Guachimontones. You’ll love my place because of the people, the outdoors space, and the light. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and big groups.

PER NIGHT (PER PERSON)
Our greatest environmental accomplishment yet! If you are looking for a full on “green” experience, you and your friends and/or family will love this space, as here you can get back to basics. Metzeri is an ecological and traditional “Adobe” building, made by our family. We used mud, clay and various fibrous organic materials like grass. Eventually we plan on building more of these houses on the property. This structure is independent from the bigger ANIMA house. It has four rooms or as we like to call them moon bellies. The bigger centre has a sky dome where you can see the stars at night from bed. It also has two other smaller rooms and another belly is a sitting area. The bathroom (a composting toilet) and shower are located outside of the structure at a close distance.
El Parietzi/ The old world
This outdoor lounge is located on the west side of the property. Here the old ways of relaxing come to fruition under a pergola with hammocks and Acapulco style chairs
surrounded by a cactus garden.
El Julle/ The road
This is our indoor lounge area where reading books, listening to music and watching films can help to relax and make your day more fulfilling and interesting.
Tlacualcalli/ The Kitchen/
At ANIMA, our purpose is to offer high quality food, either home grown or purchased locally. Our meals also carry the same philosophy, to not only to enrich our bodies but also our souls. We have a main serving and eating area inside the house and one more on our front terrace.
Continental Breakfast 8am-10am
Patios and terraces:
La Tau/ The Sun
This north facing high terrace on a second floor, offers a skirting view of the “bosque de la primavera” (Spring’s forest.)
Here you will find an outdoor sitting area furnished by “equipales” ( famous old style Mexican rural furniture.) Surrounded by plants and beautiful bungavilia trees, this location is perfect for an outdoor “Carne Asada” from our BBQ grill.
Atotonilli/ Hot water/ Agua caliente:
During colder months there is nothing better than a good time in a hot tub. You will find this on the terrace on the west side of the house and now with a refreshing natural swimming pool (NO Chlorine.)

Encouraged by our mother Mari Calleros, our family left Guadalajara, Mexico in 2003. Her support and our hard work have shaped the origins of what ANIMA has become today. In appreciation of her heritage, as she is originally from Cora/Huichol from Huajikori Nahuatl, we named our rooms, patios, kitchen and terraces with words that embrace her history, especially as it reflects our current world.
The goals of ANIMA are inspired by the book Evening Thoughts, by Thomas Berry. Our name comes from the concept that “anima” is what gave the first breath of life to the earth, and is what inspires our souls. This notion also has origins in ancient Greek civilization as the term is used to articulate ideas about humans existing with a soul. We believe that with you, we will be able to learn and cooperate to make this world a better place to live.
