We live, work and play Downtown. If you need anything at all we are usually nearby, otherwise you are on your own!
We love to travel, meet new people and experience our destinations as much like locals as is possible! Derrick runs a bicycle shop here in Phoenix and and we are active in the Downtown Phoenix arts scene. We garden, reclaim water, compost, and keep chickens and rabbits. We have two fluffy/scruffy dogs and a couple of porch cats, and they also love to meet new people!
We try to check out as much food, cool local businesses and local breweries wherever we go. There is nothing that we can't live without, but a great travel experience will include: new people, great food, great beer, beautiful art and a good story. So far, our favorite destinations have been Portland OR, Fort Collins CO, Austin, TX and Boise, ID. Derrick once found the Goonies house (from the '80's movie) simply by driving up and down the streets of Astoria, OR until he found the view that "looked right".
When hosting, we are delighted when our guests are looking for local experiences. As business owners, we appreciate when out of town guests frequent our business. We enjoy introducing our guests to the local treasures, the DIY spots, local bars and breweries, restaurants, local clothing, music. It is a great pleasure when we can recommend one of the businesses in the community, and share what makes our city special with people that are traveling.
