Step inside and the world slips away.
A converted ground floor kiosk mixing retro and antique with one of kind and hand made furnishings for the perfect sunset watch-house. A private bedroom with fully suspended King bed and large ensuite in my St Kilda foreshore home is your doorstep to all the vibrant local attractions, great eateries & markets.
Notwithstanding its brilliant location on the bay front, backing on to a large park, and within a two minute walk to just about everything you could want or need, the space itself is a converted 1950's kiosk within a building tenanted by many notable Australian people of past and present, and iconic to the area's urban landscape. The furnishings are an eclectic mix of old, new, hand made and up-cycled which is so Melbourne and a constant work-in-progress for me. This lends a wonderful sense of warmth within a gallery-white space.
The private bedroom is a sanctuary in itself. Set towards the back of the property away from traffic noise, it is a peaceful space equipped with a HD LCD 90" tv, queen Victoria settee, ambient lighting, rich coloured heavy satin curtains and a huge bed suspended from the ceiling by chain and ship's rope. Yes, completely suspended. A large ensuite is for your private use including porcelain hand basin, amply cabinetry, latrine and a shower set over a deep bath.
The building is solid concrete and being on the ground floor means that even in the long hot summer there has been no need for artificial air-conditioning or fans. Plentiful indoor plants keep the ambience mellow and air clean (no tending required) and the 180degrees of west-facing windows allows for an abundance of natural light and of course perfect sunset watching over Port Phillip Bay.
As the space is on the ground floor of a large bayside complex there are no stairs or lifts to contend with. There are gates at both the front and rear of the building, with vehicle access also at the rear. There is 1 car space available within the building car park and plenty of off-street parking.
The home can be entered either via the main foyer or directly from the car park.
You are welcome to use the entire home, with the exception of the other sleeping quarters.
As it is my home it comes with all the things you would have at your own:
bedding/linen, towels, basic toiletries, kitchen utensils & appliances, glassware, crockery, cutlery, pantry goods, flat screen TV (x2) , DVD player, WiFi, blankets, iPod speaker dock, washing machine and tumble drier.
I ask only that if you use the last of something or break it then please let me know during the time of your stay so I have a chance to attend to it if need be.

This is my home, I share it with my young daughter. We are respectful, amicable and colourful personalities so expect nothing less in our interactions with you.
We tend to be up and out early, whipping up breakfast for all if time allows, and then back in time for dinner. My work takes over my weekends and my daughter spends time with her father so we'll unlikely be seen much if at all, but I am only a call or message away and have a great love of Melbourne to share!
My place is within a multi-storey building and as such my premise shares walls and ceiling with neighbours'. Due to the solid concrete construction of the building and the compliance of residents to the building management rules it remains a very peaceful home. You will however hear residents and their visitors passing through common areas like the courtyard (directly in front of my west-facing windows), the foyer, garden paths and carpark.
Marine Parade is a main road and follows the general city peak hours of 7:30am-9:30am, 3pm-6:30pm on weekdays, whilst weekends can get busy when the sun comes out to play. It is not a high speed road, and apart from the afore mentioned high traffic periods it is fairly quiet. As all bedrooms are set towards the back of the home, and because most night revellers head inland (like Acland, Fitzroy, Chapel Streets) or grab an uber or public transport into the Melbourne CBD, night-time and sleeping is generally a quiet affair.
Common sense and courtesy goes a long, long way.
Rules for the building and grounds apply to all guests: no smoking, no pets.
Go out to party.
