Patrizia's apartment is absolutely perfect for the more adventurous and independent-minded traveller. It's authentic, cozy, and easily accessible to all the action in Venice, but still secluded enough that you will rest easy, away from noise and tourists.
Patrizia is a great host that provides absolutely everything you need. We took trips to the local market and stocked up on food and was able to prepare quick breakfasts for ourselves with what we purchased. The provided washing machine was a god-send, but you need to hang-dry your clothes and potentially purchase your own soap. The bed was comfortable and the arrangement was perfect for me and my girlfriend.
The biggest caveat is humidity during the summer months. Patrizia does a fine job providing an air conditioning unit, but if the heat is especially high, the machine may not be enough and then you'll need to consider ways to keep cool and keep bugs from biting. This is not the host's concern and this is more of a general, Venice warning. Summer is HOT and HUMID. Be prepared to handle this. Especially if you're in an actual apartment and not a lavish hotel.
Overall, I highly recommend Patrizia's apartment for any traveller looking for fun and authenticity in a beautiful city that practically demands it.
