We fell in love with this house set in the historical centre of the village, with its lovely garden. And with the south-facing views, you can enjoy the sunshine all day long!
We must add that it's our weekend and holiday home and we wanted to make it as comfortable as possible with good quality beds. Which is why we renovated it from top to bottom (including the insulation and windows). So you will find that it's cool in summer and warm in winter. A little corner of paradise…
Guests have access to the whole of the house (except the workshop where we store all our "jumble"). This leaves you with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms (with bath and shower), 1 shower room, 1 large living-dining room with open-plan kitchen, 1 laundry room, a large, shaded terrace with a table that seats 10 and lounge area, 1 outside kitchen, a garden, a 10 sq. m. swimming pool and a private parking space (room for 1 car).

In the house, we have left you a "manual" with all the information you will need plus some suggestions of things to do and see, good restaurants etc. We can be contacted for help if ever you do have a problem. Somebody looks after the swimming pool and garden once a week and the plants are watered automatically.
THINGS TO DO :
We really like Théoule-sur-Mer (45’ by car) as there aren't too many people. But it's advisable to go early. The prices at Le Magellan beach are reasonable (sun bed, meal) and dogs are allowed, which isn't the case at other beaches. Otherwise, there's Cannes, Golf-Juan, Nice… you're spoilt for choice really.
The village of Le bar-sur-Loup :
The village council is very active and organises a number of events throughout the year, such as a guided tour of the village every Thursday morning at 10 am (from in front of the town hall).
We recommend you take a look at the town hall's website, which is very well presented.
To visit the St Jacques le Majeur Church (not to be confused with the chapel at the top of the Rue de la Fontaine)
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, 10 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 5.30 pm - Sundays 9 am to 12 pm
You can also have a lovely time just wandering around the narrow streets around the church.
Walking and hiking :
There are many paths leading out from the village. There is a walking and hiking map on the coffee table. You can go for an hour or a while day, it's up to you. In summer, don't forget to wear a hat and to take lots of drinking water with you.
Towns to visit nearby :
To help you, you will find a road map, the Lonely Planet « Côte d’Azur » guide (in French) and Rick Steves' "Provence & the French Riviera" (in English) on the coffee table.
Grasse: The capital of perfume. Grasse is where Coco Chanel created the famous Chanel Number 5.
Nice: the capital of the Riviera, with its unique atmosphere and the Promenade des Anglais. Take a walk around the streets of Old Nice, it's all pedestrianised and really pleasant.
Cannes: The extravagance and elegance of the Carlton, the Croisette and the Festival. We reckon the best beach is the Ondine, located between the Carlton and the Miramar (yellow flag). Careful though – it's expensive. Last time we went, the dish of the day was €39…
Monte-Carlo / Monaco: The port with its huge yachts, the Rococo palace of the Grimaldi princely family and, of course, the Monaco Grand Prix F1 circuit. There's also the Jardin Exotique, the casino and Hôtel de Paris and the fabulous Oceanographic Museum.
Antibes: One of the loveliest old towns on the French Riviera. Don't miss its famous market held on the Cours Masséna.
Fréjus: Provence's own Pompeii.
Juan-les-Pins: The mecca for entertainment and young night-owls.
For sport-lovers :
It's a paradise for cyclists and mountain bikers. There is a mountain biking guide on the coffee table in the living room.
For tennis fans :
There are two courts at Le Bar-sur-Loup (a 3-min walk from the house).
There are two well-known hang-gliding companies :
Auberge de Gourdon, Route de Caussol - 06620 Gourdon
(take-off altitude 1150 m)
École Cumulus Allée de la Ferrage, 06620 Gréolières, France
(take-off altitude 1778 m)
You can go canyoning in the Gorges du Loup :
Funtrip 11-13 route de Grasse – Tourrettes-sur-Loup
In winter, there's skiing, snowboarding or hiking with snow shoes at Gréolières-les-Neiges (only 40 min by car), Audibergue or even Isola 2000.
There are a number of golf courses around the village. The nearest ones are:
Golf de la Grande Bastide
761 chemin des Picholines – Châteauneuf de Grasse
Golf Opio Valbonne
Route de Nice – Opio
For aficionados of motor sports :
Fun Kart (a genuine kart circuit 5 min from the house)
Plateau de la Sarrée - Route de Gourdon - Le Bar Sur Loup
Arts (also see the guide books) :
The fabulous Maeght Foundation at Saint-Paul de Vence is a treasure trove of modern art for those who love Miró, Chagall, Braque, Calder, Giacometti and many others. Not to be missed.
Vallauris: the traditional centre for ceramics, with its grandiose Picasso fresco "War and Peace" and its bronze statue "Man with a Sheep".
Antibes: the Picasso Museum.
Nice: the Matisse Museum, the Musée National Marc Chagall and the Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain.
February: Nice Carnival (Battle of the Flowers)
May: Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival
July & August: Jazz à Juan-les-Pins, Nuits du Sud in Vence, Nice Jazz Festival, International Firework Festival at Cannes, Monaco and Antibes.
Don't forget there are also smaller festivals in many of the villages. For example, the Violet Festival every March in Tourrettes-sur-Loup or the Orange Tree Festival on Easter Monday in Le Bar-sur-Loup, where the village traditions take pride of place.
