This tiny house is 200 beautifully-renovated square feet of bright, comfortable, cozy, compact living. Attached to our family home, it has a separate entrance, full sleeping loft, twin day bed, private bath, and kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. Conveniently located between Duke and UNC in the Solterra cohousing community.
Le Shedteau started out as a "perfectly good lawnmower shed" that we converted into a guest house in 2010. It was originally designed for a deaf and disabled young adult and hence has some unique features. The doorbell is a light. The environmentally friendly faucets have an auto shut-off feature which makes it impossible to leave them running if you walk away from the sinks. The shower is operated by a single push button and is set to a consistent temperature of about 104 degrees.
The sleeping loft has a full-size mattress, but if you don't want to climb the ladder, there is a single day bed below. We do not want children under age 12 to use the sleeping loft.
We provide coffee and a 5-cup drip coffee maker, as well as sugar and cream. There is no stove, but there is a refrigerator and microwave, as well as a cutting board, can opener and basic utensils. If you will be staying a while and would like to cook, we can provide a small crock pot.
We will provide a wifi password for your personal devices, and the television has a cable connection. There is a designated parking space reserved for you.
The main home, kitchen and laundry are not available to guests. If you are staying longer than a week, we will be glad to switch out your linens for fresh ones each week.

We like to greet our guests on arrival and answer any questions. We both work full time and sometimes travel, so we may be busy during your stay, but we are easily accessible by text. You will have plenty of privacy, but we will be available if you have any questions or problems that need to be addressed.
The plumbing for the shower shares a wall at the head of our bed, and we are usually in bed fairly early. We will ask that you refrain from showering between 10pm and 6 a.m. if possible. If this doesn't work in your schedule, we will be understanding.
We welcome mature, quiet, community-minded adults (and their children) who will treat our space with care.

I live in a cohousing community in Durham NC with my spouse. We have four teenage/young adult children in various stages of transition to independence. We spend as much time as possible in our second home on Oak Island NC and plan to retire there.
