We've been staying in vacation homes for many years now, but never found a place that surpassed all our expectations as much as this property. I would like to give a lot more than 5 stars.
From the beginning to end Greta was very helpful and welcoming. The place is in a beautiful location, hidden in the forest. The grounds are full of wonderful surprises, play areas for the children, a pond and river for fishing, outdoor bbq and eating area with authentic old waffle iron (my mother said they had the same kind 75 years ago) and so much more. Everything is very well-kept, you can tell it's not just a rental place, it's a cherished homestead.
There are a few houses on the property, but our host said she only takes one family at a time, so that guests have their privacy. We were able to have a look at the smaller house, which has been renovated and furnished more or less as it might have been 70 or 80 years ago - but also includes modern comforts such as indoor toilet, kitchen with appliances and even wifi.
The larger house our big group stayed in had plenty of room for the nine of us. There are three beautiful bedrooms upstair, one of them with two single beds, and two with a double bed and a single bed. The stairs are quite steep, so we were happy that there was another bedroom (with double bed) downstairs, for the two elderly ladies in our group. Downstairs there is also a large family roon, with dining and living area, a well-equipped kitchen in the cornerr and a bathroom with toilet, shower and sink. We enjoyed the tiled stove in the living area, as it was a bit cold during our stay.
In the mornings and evenings the cranes flew in formation over the homestead, that was something I really enjoyed.
This is a very special place, and especially people looking for a quiet place to get away and relax and enjoy nature, and people who appreciate authentic well-kept old furnishings will be pleasantly surprised.
