Our place is good for a couple, solo adventure seeker or just getting back to nature & relaxing in the mountains. This is a cozy one bedroom one full bath, living room & kitchenette. With a relaxing covered front porch. A quiet and peaceful getaway that is tucked in the Sierra Mountains of California. Less than a half an hour drive to beautiful golf courses in Graeagle and historical Downieville and Nevada City. Also a short drive to the Sierra Buttes, one of the gems of the Sierra Mountains.

Just the perfect place for hikers, snow snowshoeing, cross country skiers, bird watchers, mountain biking or just getting away for a quite relaxing time.

The town was founded to support the Davies-Johnson Lumber Mill around 1919. From 1921 until 1940, a branch of the Western Pacific Railroad served the town and the mill, working out of Portola, California. The timber stocks were gone by 1939 and the mill closed soon after.

This Home was built in the early 30’s as a boarding home that housed employees of the Calpine Lumber Mill & Box Company.
