We always appreciate feedback, as it allows us to continuously improve. However, it is disheartening when guests do not treat our place with the respect they would have of their own home – and despite our great experience with Airbnb thus far, this is an unfortunate incident. Whilst we wholeheartedly understand that dealing with rubbish and dirty dishes are part of being a host, it is reasonable to expect that guests follow our House Rules, which was not the case in Clare’s stay. All the lights were left on, the tv still on, and the biggest disappointment and concern of all – our apartment was left unlocked. Furthermore, permanent damage to our bed sheets could have been prevented had we received a courtesy note from Clare the morning of her check-out; instead, we were left unaware of what happened and thus could not attend to the matter as soon as possible. We put a lot of trust in our guests, go out of our way to create a great home away from home, and expect the same level of respect and courtesy we give to them – disappointingly, this was not our experience in this instance. We were upset by the lack of respect not to mention disregard of our home & belongings – this was not about the dirty dishes or rubbish.
